Alexander's POV
"Alexander!" I shot up and stared at my maid groggily. "Today is the Winter's Ball." She huffed and stared to prepare my dress. I sighed and flopped down back down. "Alexander! Get up this instant!" I groaned and rolled out of bed, stumbling to the kitchen. "Hey, Alex!" Laf chimed at the breakfast table, I flopped in my seat and leaned against the table. "Lafayette." Our 'father' sat down and smiled at us both. We're adopted. Long story. "Big day for you both." He grinned. "George, do I have too?" "Yes, Alexander. You must marry a prince or princess. I'm very sorry." "WHAT IS WRONG WITH MARRYING FOR LOVE!" I screamed and stormed out, back to my room.
Lafayette's POV
"WHAT IS WRONG WITH MARRYING FOR LOVE!" Alex stormed out and dad sighed. "We can't all win." "Why is he so upset?" I asked. "He's just still not used to this life. I'll talk to him. Don't worry."
Alexander's POV
Someone knocked on the door and my maid, Mary, looked up. I pressed a finger to my lips and winked, returning to my book. They knocked again and Mary glanced pointedly between me and the door. I shook my head and went back to reading. They knocked a third time and I sighed. I nodded at Mary and she opened the door. "Alexander?" "What?" I spat, Washington sat on the edge of my green four poster bed and sighed. "Alex, I know you don't like this but it's something you must do." "Get married?" "Can we make a deal?" "Sure." "I want you to marry for love. I don't care if it's a prince or a common person, love. I do, however, want you to at least dance with every suitor." I consider and decided there was no harm. "Fine but if they step on my toes I'm stepping back." Wash chuckled and stood up. "Be readying time please?" "Yeah, yeah." I mumbled, George left and Mary grinned. "I do hope you find someone who really loves you, Alexander." "Alex." I corrected. "Mary? Have you ever found love?" "No but I imagine it's wonderful." I smiled and pulled a fifty out of my desk drawer. "Go into town and get me a cupcake from that bakery you're always talking about. Get one for yourself too." "Oh, thank you, Alex." "Make sure you talk to the cashier!" I called after her. "Sending Mary on a cupcake run? Again?" Laf chuckled and sat on my bed. "That cashier likes her! I know it!" I giggled, Laf laughed and laid back. "So...I heard the Schuyler Sisters are coming tonight." "So?" "So, Eliza totally likes you!" I sighed and looked at the dress on the mannequin. "She just likes me cause I'm always on the news. 'Let's see how Prince Alexander is adjusting to his new home!' JESUS PEOPLE!" I flopped on the bed and sighed. "Also that Prince I told you about, Hercules, he's gonna be there." He sighed dreamily. "He's bringing a friend though." He mumbled, I laughed and snorted. Laf and I chatted about legit everything for hours.
Time Skip brought to you by my lazy ass.
