Alexander's POV
I took a nervous breath as I stepped into the school campus and looked around. I pressed forward and looked around as I navigated the stuffy hallways. People stared at me as I passed and I just kept my head down. Some girls gasped as I walked by and started whispering to each other. I shifted uncomfortably and looked down at my schedule. I found my locker pretty quickly and put my books in it with a sigh. "Hey." I jumped a bit and looked up at a really tall man. He had dark brown eyes and straight ginger hair gelled back. He wasn't exactly skinny but he wasn't buff either. He was average just tall as hell. "Are you new?"
"Uh-Yeah."
"Cool. I'm Thomas but most people call me Jefferson."
"Oh...Alexander Hamilton." I smiled, offering my hand to shake. He just slapped it like a high five and leaned against the locker next to mine.
"You wanna come meet my friends?" He hummed, I shrugged and he smiled. "Follow me."
John's POV
"Hey, Pegs." I mumbled, shifting my backpack on my shoulder and sitting across from her.
"Hey, John." She smiled. "Everything ok?"
"Huh? Yeah...It's fine." I mumbled, that's when I saw him. He was a little shorter than I am and he wore a black leather jacket over his black clothes. He had bright red curls tied back in a small ponytail and freckles dotting his tan skin. I flushed red as he scanned the cafeteria and looked away.
"What?" Peggy frowned, she looked up and smirked. "That's the new kid. I don't know too much about him." She sighed, we watched as he followed Jefferson to his table and sighed. "Sorry, John. He's as good as gone."
"What else is new." I grumbled. Peggy and I chatted for a bit until the first bell rang and she walked me to class. I hate gym class but I need the credit to graduate. I slipped into the locker room and milled around, waiting for everyone to leave. When I thought the coast was clear I quickly changed. I wait for everyone to leave so people won't see my scars. I heard someone curse under their breathe and I flushed red, peeking out to see who it was. There he was, the boy from the cafeteria, standing in the corner by an open locker. He pulled his gym shirt over his freckled back and I flushed bright red.
"God damn it." He muttered, I hid again as he turn around and I heard him leave the locker room. I waited a beat and slipped out after. I made my way over to Lafayette and huffed.
"Hey, mon ami." He grinned.
"What are we doing?"
"Playing dodge ball."
"Great." I grumbled, the new kid was standing with Jefferson, Madison, Lee, and Reynolds and laughing with them. I sighed and looked away, pushing him out of my mind and getting ready to get my ass handed to me.
Alexander's POV
"What the fuck is dodge ball?" I frowned, looking up at Jefferson and tightening my ponytail.
"You throw shit at people."
"Yeah!" Lee piped up. "We usually just throw shit at that gay, homeless kid." He laughed, I frowned and opened my mouth to question him but the couch blew his whistle. Everyone ran forward and started throwing balls at each other. I stood there watching for a moment and Jefferson nudged me.
"You're gonna get hit, dumbass."
"Give me a ball." I muttered, he grinned and handed me one. I joined the chaos and soon there was just Jefferson, Lee and I on our side and four kids on the other team. Lee laughed like an idiot as he pelted some kid in the face and couch blew his whistle.
"No head shots, Lee!" The couch bellowed, Lee groaned and left the court as the kid who was hit was let back on. I dodged a ball and caught another before throwing it as hard as I could at the other team. I hit that kid in the stomach and he trudged off the court. Jefferson and I won the game and soon we were released back to the locker room.
"Hey, watch this." Jefferson grinned, he made his way across the locker room with Lee and Reynolds hot on his tail. They stood over some kid who was sitting on the bench still in his gym uniform. He looked up at them and his ocean eyes widened a little bit. Lee grabbed his collar and dragged him off the bench, slamming him against the lockers. I gasped and looked around. No one seemed fazed by this. They started pushing him around and Lee punch him in the gut. The boy coughed and fell to the ground wheezing. I found myself running across the locker room as Jefferson reared back to kick the boy. I stood between them and glared at him. "Get out of the way, Hamilton." He hissed.
"No. What the hell is wrong with you?" I growled.
"Me? Look at him! He's gross!" Lee gagged.
"What'd he ever do to you, huh?"
"What? You got a soft spot for him?" Jefferson purred.
"No. You haven't any right to hurt some just because they're there."
"He's homeless and gay, Hamilton." Reynolds grumbled.
"I've been here two hours and I can already tell you that Jefferson has a crush on Madison and Lee is a fucking simp for Seabury. So shut the fuck up about all this gay stuff. I'm bisexual. Are you gonna beat me up?"
"No." Jefferson muttered.
"Exactly. Leave him alone." By this time pretty much everyone had cleared out of the locker room and it was just us. The boy was still on the ground trying to catch his breathe and Jefferson looked annoyed. "Go." I snapped, Jefferson rolled his eyes and started off.
"You win this once, Hamilton. This is strike one." With that they left the locker room and I huffed. I turned to the boy and he flinched, shielding himself.
"Are you ok?" I asked curtly, stuffing my hands in my pockets of my jacket.
"Why did you do that?" He mumbled.
"Why not?" I offered my hand and he looked up at me. He took it and I helped him up. He was way taller than me too and I had to tilt my head a bit to look at him. Despite his height he seemed small and kind of scared. "Are you ok?"
"Yeah. I'm fine." He gathered his clothes and started for the bathroom. I sat on the bench and waited for him to change. When he came out he stopped and stared at me.
"Why are you still here?"
"I'm taking you to the nurse's office." I hummed.
"Why?"
"Lee fucking punched you. What do you mean 'why'?" I chuckled.
"No. I don't need your help. Just go to class. I'm fine."
"Nope. I'm taking you to the nurse."
"Just fuck off. I'm fine. You already have one strike-"
"What does that even mean."
"If you get three you'll be a social outcast like me." He grumbled. "They'll beat you up too."
"Did you get three strikes?" I asked calmly, he glanced at me and continued organizing his gym locker.
"That's none of your business." He grumbled.
"Ok. Ready?"
"Dude, leave me the fuck alone. You don't even know me." I stood up and slammed my hands on either side of his face, cornering him against the lockers. He looked down at me in disbelief and I smiled innocently.
"I'm taking you to the nurse's office. Understand?"
"Ugh...fine."
"Good." I let him go and grabbed my satchel.
