A/N - I got this idea from me and a couple friends trying to screw the others over so I hope y'all enjoy
John's POV
"It's loud." Alex mumbled from beside me, his chocolate hair hung at his shoulders and his hazel eyes stared around. He wore a black crop top with non-stop printed in green on the front and black ripped jeans, his black converse laced up. Lafayette and Hercules, the only couple in the group, accompanied us and might get us kicked out. I had my curly brown hair tied up in a mid ponytail and I wore an old swim team shirt. My blue jeans were ripped and my black vans were laced up.
"You agreed to this." I smirked, it was my idea to go bowling and have fun. Alex and I knew Laf and Herc were gonna be all couple-y but we didn't really mind. Truth is...I've had a crush on my best friend for two years. To be clear, Alex is my best friend.
"Touché." We paid for our lane for two hours and plopped down at the table near the lane. We put on our shoes and Alex almost tripped over himself, making me catch him. We got up and headed to the racks of balls near the counter. Alex has never gone bowling so he doesn't know the difference between a twelve pound ball and a six pound ball. He pulled a twelve pound ball off the rack and nearly dropped it. I swiftly took it from him and laughed.
"Lexi, start with a six pound ball." I put the twelve pound back and pulled an eight pound for myself.
"Six pound?"
"Yeah, look." I turned over my ball and showed Alex the eight. "They're numbered with their weight." Alex nodded like he understood and fished around. He found one and decided he liked it. We returned to the lane and I started a game. I put my name in first, 'John'. "Alex, what do you want your name as?"
"Surprise me." He chuckled.
"Ok! Baby girl..." I trailed off, pretending to type and waiting for Alex to stop me.
"Laurens!" He yelped. "Stop!" He whined.
"Fine. Lexi." I put in 'Lexi', FrenchFry, and Horse. The couple saw and glared at me. "I'm first!" I giggled, I picked up my ball and stepped up to the lane. I swung my arm back and shot the ball through the pins, knocking them all down. I turned around found my friends staring at me. "What! My dad likes to play!" The tv showed Alex's turned and he just sat there.
"It's your turn, mon ami." Alex jumped and looked over at Laf. He shakily stood up and grabbed his ball, slowly approaching the lane. As I passed to sit down Alex grabbed my arm and I met his wide eyes.
"Hey,what's wrong, baby girl?" Alex and I were super close so we had no problem calling each other pet names and shit.
"I don't know how to play." Alex mumbled, I chuckled and grabbed his hand.
"I'll teach you." I pulled Alex to the lane and showed him how to properly hold it. "Ok, swing your arm back and nearly slide it. Got it?"
"I-I think so." Alex has this thing with his anxiety that makes him think if he messes up he should kill himself or something like that. I don't know exactly what happens in his brain but it's pretty dark and he's told me before that I keep him alive most of the time.
"Hey. You'll be fine. I'm right here, baby." I backed up a bit and Alex took a breath. He swung back and did exactly what I told him to. He knocked down a good chunk of the pins and the spare would be easy. "See?"
"Thanks, Jacky." He smiled, he ran to the ball return and fetched his ball.
"Same thing, Lexi, aim this time."
"Aim?"
"Yeah, look." I showed him how to aim and he got his spare easily. "There ya go!" I laughed, Alex beamed and giggled. I've hopelessly fallen in love with this hazel eyed cutie. It was Laf's turn and Alex didn't see him bowl, he only saw the screen light up with the word 'strike'.
"I thought strikes were baseball." Alex frowned, I chuckled and draped my arm across his shoulders.
"It is but it's in bowling too. In bowling it's when you knock all the pins down at one time." I explained.
"Oh." It was my turn again and I bowled another strike.
"Like that!" I laughed.
"Show off." Alex shoved me playfully and I handed him his ball. He approached the lane and I already saw it coming. I got up and hurried to Alex. I got there just in time. He let go of the ball and slipped, falling into my arms. I could already see his tears and I helped him stand up. "I need to use the restroom." He bolted away and I sighed. Alex had thrown a gutter ball and I wasn't going to let Laf be a bitch. I quickly finished Alex's turn, bowling all the pins down, and hurried after him.
"Lexi?"
"Go away!"
"You know I'm not gonna do that." I hummed, we were the only ones in here and Alex had locked himself in the big stall.
"I'm a failure." He wept. "Why did I let you talk me into this?"
"Because I know, deep deep deep deep down, you wanna spend time with your best friend." Alex chuckled a bit and the lock clicked. I pushed the door open and found Alex crying on the floor. "Hey."
"Hey." Alex wiped his face and I sat next to him.
"Did you take your meds this morning?" Alex nodded and sniffed. "C'mere." I wrapped my left arm around his shoulders and pulled him closer. With my right arm I got a bit of toilet paper and folded it up. "Look at me." Alex looked up and I dabbed his tears away. "All better." I smiled and kissed his nose, making him blush. Alex and I were very intimate with each other because we've both been through shit. I had my dad and Alex had his...past. We never tried to compare or say the other is worse because we know that it's pointless and everyone has their own problems. Alex and I always rush to pick the other one up. That's how I started to fall for him and I don't ever wanna get up. Alex snuggled into my side and we sat there for a minute or so.
