A/N - *screaming*

Alexander's POV

"Pull the sails!" People scattered around deck and the ship rocked. "Alexander, get under!" The captain ordered but I was already frozen. The PTSD from the hurricane that happened a few months ago kicked in and I gasped for air. A wave crashed over the ship and I was swept away into the depths.

John's POV

"Evening, John." Washington smiled.
"Hiya, George." I swam to a stop and lightning flashed over head.
"Hm. Seems there's a storm. Stay safe, John." I smiled and nodded, turning to swim home. I decided to stop by a coral reef and watched the sea turtles. I saw a dark shadow drift across the ocean floor, I looked up to see something floating a little ways away on the surface. I figured out it was a ship and hid in the coral. Humans kill merpeople because they blame us and our magic for things. A wave crashed over the ship and a body hit the water. It thrashed around for a few moments and I was puzzled as to why it wasn't swimming to the surface. After a moment it stopped moving and, against my better judgment, I swam toward it. It was a boy no older than twenty, he had tan skin and freckles splattered across his body. His curly red hair spread out in the water as he drifted toward the sea floor and his eyes were closed. Bubbles slipped out between his soft lips and his arms drifted upwards. He was a little thin but he had a six pack and muscles nonetheless. I decided to be a idiot and grabbed him by the waist. I swam quickly toward the surface and lifted his head above water. I swam towards shore and threw him on the beach. I dragged myself up next to him and stared at him. He wasn't breathing so I slammed my fist down on his chest. He coughed up water and gasped for air, I scrambled back and hid behind a boulder. The boy coughed longer and rolled on his side, throwing up more water.
"I know you're there." He croaked, I decided to stay put and the boy looked out in my direction. "I'm not going to hurt you." I slowly let myself drift out from behind the boulder and peek at him. In the dusk his freckles seemed to shine like stars and his hair stuck to his tan skin. He was still catching his breath and he wiped his mouth. "Thank you." He breathed, I turned to leave and he stood up quickly. "Wait!" I froze and stared up at him. "What's your name?"
"John...John Laurens."
"Alexander Hamilton." He smiled, I noticed he was shaking and wouldn't go near the water. "If you ever find yourself in trouble just ask for me." He smiled, I backed away and quickly swam home. As I got ready for bed I couldn't stop thinking about him. He was gorgeous and smart and I liked the way he talked.

A week later

Against my better judgement again, I went back there just to think. I pulled myself up on the boulder and sighed, ringing out my straight blonde hair.
"Well, well, well. Look who it is." I jumped and fell backwards off the rock, into the ocean. I pulled myself out of the water and stared up into the violet eyes of Alexander Hamilton. He hair was tied back neatly today and his clothes weren't torn or wet. His shoes were left on the beach and his pants legs were rolled up to prevent them getting wet. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." He moved to touch me and I scrambled away. "I'm not going to hurt you." He assured, I shrunk away and hid behind the rock again. Alexander backed out of the water and sat on the beach.
"Alexander?" I cursed myself for speaking and bit my lip.
"Yes?"
"Are you lying?"
"No. I'm not going to hurt you. I promise." I slowly peeked out from behind the rock to see him smiling and sitting with a journal in his lap. I slowly dragged myself into the beach and sat a little ways away from him. "Thank you." I looked over at him and frowned. "I know other humans are mean to your kind and you're probably scared out of your mind. My point is...you didn't have to save me but you did. Thank you."
"Your welcome." I mumbled, Alex began writing and we sat in silence. "Did you fall?"
"Huh?"
"Did you fall?" I repeated, looking into his violet eyes and hugging my tail close to my chest.
"Yeah. There was a huge wave and I was tossed overboard."
"Why didn't you swim up?"
"I-...I can't swim." Alex told me that he's originally from an island in the Caribbean called Nevis and there was a hurricane. He showed me his scars and I blushed at the sight of his abs. He explained that ever since then he's been terrified of large bodies of water.
"Then why are you out here?"
"It's quiet and I can write." He smiled.
"Write?"
"Yeah, look." I scooted closer to him and he showed me his journal. He wrote a couple sentences and I smiled.
"I like to play with turtles in the reefs." Alex smiles and I rested my chin on my would be knees. Alex cocked his head to the side and frowned.
"What happened there?" The gestured to my shoulder and I glanced at the scar. There were three rigid cuts from when I escaped from my dad, I used to live in waters near South Carolina but I fled in fear from my father and ended up here.
"Nothing." I sighed and shook my head. "My dad was abusive so I fled. He grabbed my shoulder and scarred me." I explained, Alex nodded and I buried my face in my blue scales. Alex placed his hand on my shoulder and I glanced at him. He pat the sand next to him and I reluctantly scooted closer. I was so much bigger than he was, it was weird. He smiled and I picked at my scales. The tide came in and Alex scrambled back in a hurry, the waves washing around me. "Are you ok?" I asked, looking back at him. He nodded slowly and stayed back. The sun had began to set and I sighed. "I should get going." I pushed myself into the water and Alexander gathered his things.
"Goodnight, John."
"Goodnight, Alexander." I turned to swim away and pushed my hair out of my face.
"Call me Alex." He smiled, I turned back and nodded.
"If-...If I were to come back tomorrow...would I see you?" Alex broke into a toothy grin and shrugged.
"Maybe." I smiled and waved goodbye, diving into the depths.
