Background Info - historical appearance as y'all know I'm a junior in high school and I know nothing else but Brandeis Broncos so this whole chapter is that so yeah also The Crush game is like the most important thing at our school basically it's the game that we play our rivals the O'Connor Panthers so yeah

John's POV

"LAURENS!" Coach roared, I winced and pulled my helmet off. "GET YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME!" I nodded and stuffed my helmet back on my head, bending over the football. I'm the quarterback for King's high school and I kind of like it. I'm doing it for college. It makes me the most popular kid in school and 'a ladies man'. Yeah no. I'm gay as fuck. I snapped the ball and someone immediately tackled me to the ground. Francis helped me off the ground and pat my back. We set up the play again and ran it over and over until I was dizzy. A trainer handed me a bottle of water and I squeezed the water into my mouth. I heard a camera going off and I looked around for the source. There on the sideline was the head journalist, my best friend, Alexander Hamilton. He gave a small wave so he wouldn't get me in trouble and I grinned, waving back.
"Alexander Hamilton." The trainer, Eliza, breathed. "He's so dreamy." I felt my blood boil and I ran back to the huddle. I gave the play and the guys nodded.
"Break!" We all clapped and set up the play. As we practiced I heard Alex's camera going off and I couldn't help but smile. He makes helpless. He looks so official with his press pass and camera. He holds it with the strap wrapped around his wrist and his press pass dangles from his belt loop. He wore black high waisted jeans and one of my football t-shirts tucked in. His black converse high top converse were laced up on his feet and his jeans were cuffed at the end. His large round glasses sat on the bridge of his slim nose and his red curls were tied up in a messy bun. Alex was very cute and very hot. I have developed a massive crush on my best friend. He's amazing in every way.

Practice ended and I pulled my pads off. I heard the camera shutter and I looked up. Alex grinned and beckoned me over. I chuckled to myself and walked over the him. He went to hug me but stopped.
   "You need a shower."
"Aware." I laughed. "Get anything good?"
"I think so." He showed me his camera and I looked at some of his pictures. There were several of me getting tackled and Alex giggled. "You're ok, right?"
"I'm fine, Lex. I can take a hit." I grinned, Alex chuckled and put his camera in it's satchel. We chatted while he followed me to the locker room and I took his hand, towing him inside.
   "Wait, John!" Alex protested.
"What? No one's in there." I laughed.
"You have to take a shower." Alex mumbled, blushing a bit. Alex always got really flustered easily.
"Then you can sit over by my locker while I take a shower, dork." I pulled him into the empty locker and he clung to my arm despite the sweat. "Why do you hate the locker room?"
"I guess it's just a fear of the rest of the team." He mumbled. Everyone was always so mean to him. They knock his books to the ground and even broke his camera once. He get bullied all because he doesn't have a family or money. I've been there for him since Sophomore year, when he first came to the school. The poor boy was scared of everything. "I mean they shove me to the ground and throw my lunch on the floor."
"You said you weren't hungry!" Alex winced and sighed.
"I'm sorry. I just didn't want you to worry." Alex mumbled as I opened my locker and pulled my duffle bag out.
"Alex, I'm always worried." I smiled, he sighed and set his camera satchel down. I started to pull my shirt off and Alex closed his eyes. I chuckled and tossed my shirt in my bag. I grabbed a change of jeans and a towel and kissed Alex's forehead before slipping into the shower area. I heard the door open and I frowned.
"Hey, Freak." I heard Jefferson sneer and I started to shower faster. I heard Alex mumbled a response and stuff clattered to the floor. Alex grunted and I heard his small voice.
"No, please!" He begged. "I can't afford a new one!"  I quickly threw on boxers and a pair of jeans and realized I had left my shirt. I quickly ran to help Alex and found Jefferson pinning him to a locker. Charles Lee stood behind him snickering and James Reynolds was taking a video. My blood boiled and I grabbed Jefferson's collar, slamming him into the lockers opposite.
"You think it's funny to pick on someone just cause they're smaller and not as wealthy as you. It's not fucking funny. Alex didn't do anything to you and you torment him. If anything like this ever happens again I'll talk to coach and you'll be benched for the Crush game." I growled, Jefferson's eyes widened and I pushed him toward the door. His goons followed him out and I pulled Alex against my chest. I'm sure he was a tomato and so was I but I didn't care. He needed my attention. He wrapped his arms around my waist and buried his face in my chest, letting me hold him. I glanced over to see his camera out on the bench and his lens on the floor.
"Is it cracked?" I bent down and picked it up, handing it to Alex. He examined it and put it back on his camera. He looked through it and he sighed with relief. "I think it's fine." He sniffed, I pulled him back into a hug and buried my face in his hair. "You're not wearing a shirt." Alex whispered, I chuckled and held him closer.
"That doesn't matter. Are you hurt or something?" Alex shook his head and I pushed him back to look in his eyes.
"I'm ok, John." He assured, placing a hand on my chest and smiling. "I promise."
"Alright. I get it. I'll stop." I chuckled and Alex grinned.
"Now get dressed so we can go." He giggled, Alex and I always hang out the day before a game and watch the office at his place. Alex lives alone so I can snuggle up with him and no one can say anything. I mentioned I had a crush on him right?
"I'm going!" I threw my shirt on and pulled my letterman on since it was getting colder. I grabbed my backpack and wrapped an arm around Alex's shoulders. I've always been touchy-feely with Alex and he's always loved it. I apologized once and he told me to next apologize for it because it's the best part of his day. It makes me blush thinking about it. Alex and I chatted on the way to my car and I took his camera from him to put it in the backseat. Alex told me about his day on the way home and I told him about practice.
"So you aren't focusing?" Alex frowned as he unlocked his front door and pushed it open.
"I can't." I shrugged. "I don't know what it is." Oh...I know what it is. It's Alex. I've been trying to figure out how to ask Alex out for a week.
"I'm sorry. Can I help?"
"I don't know." I mumbled.
"You know what always helps?" He grinning, turning on The Office and sitting on the couch.
"What?" I plopped down next to him and he smiled.
"Cuddles." He pulled me down so he was spooning me as we watched and I smiled. Usually I'm the big spoon but I'll do anything just to feel Alex's skin on mine. We watched in silence for awhile until I heard some light snoring behind me. I chuckled and carefully sat up. Alex looked so peaceful as he slept and I gently kissed his forehead. I scooped him up and carried him to his bedroom. I laid him down and started to pull his jeans off. I blushed as I realized I've never seen more than his arms and legs but continued knowing he hates sleeping in bulky clothes. I pulled his shirt off and my jaw dropped. His torso was littered with horrible scars and I traced a few sadly. Alex has told me about it but I didn't think it was this bad. I kissed his cheeks and pulled his glasses off. I pulled his hair out and pulled the blanket over him. I grabbed a piece of paper and scribbled a note for him before closing the door and leaving.
