A/N - Hi I'm alive
John's POV
I hate being homeless. Ever since I ditched my dad I've been in the streets. I hitchhiked to New York and now I sleep on benches in Central Park. Glamorous, I know. I hate watching the rich assholes walking down the streets, lying and saying they don't have money then buying a hot dog at the hot dog stand across the street. There is one boy. He's special. His name is Alexander and he's the youngest lawyer in New York and pretty good too. He got rich fast and every time he passes me he gives me something. Anything he can. Be it change or a twenty. If he doesn't have any cash on him he buys me food with his card. He always gives me something. I am so grateful for him. The most I get is a few cents from people who pity me but Alexander does his best to help. Speak of the devil. He cuts through the park on his way to work. He's walking pretty fast today and he's on the phone. I busied myself with trying to warm my hands and Alex ran up, handing me a twenty with a smile. I grinned and took it from his hand. "Thank you so much!" I gushed.
"No problem." He smiled, turning to continue his walk.
"Um-...Alexander!" I stood up and he frowned.
"How do you know my name?"
"It's on the sides of buses and billboards." I mumbled.
"Oh...Right."
"I wanted to ask you something."
"Of course." He smiled.
"Do you think I could get a blanket or something? Please?" I mumbled, rubbing the back of my neck. Alex smiled gently and glanced at his watch. "It's fine if you don't w-"
"Come on."
"What?"
"I should take a break anyway. Come on." He grinned, I grabbed my backpack and hurried after him.
"Where are we going?"
"To get a blanket." He beamed.
"Oh...Thank you!" I grinned. "I-I'm John, by the way."
"Good to know." Alex giggled a bit, I smiled and followed him to a small shop. He opened the door for me and I sheepishly entered. "Hey, Herc!" Alex grinned, trotting up to the man behind the counter. "Do you have any blankets?"
"Yeah, right over there." The man smiled, Alex turned to me and smiled.
"Go pick one out." He beamed, I shifted and Alex ushered me over. I grabbed a blanket off the shelf and Alex chuckled. He paid for it and I kicked my shoe into the tile. Alex lead me back outside and I walked in silence. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." I mumbled, Alex let it go and stopped at the entrance to Central Park.
"Ok. I've gotta get to work. Take care, John." He smiled.
"Thank you, Alexander."
"Alex." He smiled.
"Thank you, Alex."
"Of course, John." He smiled, continuing his walk to work. I settled on a bench and smiled.
Alexander's POV
I sighed as I packed up my things and glanced at the weather on my computer screen. It was snowing and twenty eight degrees. My mind wandered to John and I hurried to the elevator. He must be freezing. I walked as fast as I can, trying to stay bundled, and searched to park. John was huddled at the foot of a statue, holding the blanket close to him and shivering violently. "John! My god!" I dropped next to him and he jumped a bit. "Your skin is ice! Come on. Let's get you warmed up." I wrapped my scarf around his neck and hauled him off the pavement. I took him to the subway and he wouldn't stop shivering. I was shivering too but he was definitely worse. I towed him up to my penthouse and sat him on the couch. He stared around in awe and I dumped a load of blankets on him. "Are you alright?"
"I'm ok. Thank you."
"Absolutely. No problem."
"Nice place."
"Oh..." I blushed and shifted. "Thanks. It's a little to big for me." I mumbled, John smiled and I bit my lip. "I'm gonna make some dinner so why don't you take a shower?" I smiled, John smiled and followed me to the bathroom. I showed him how to use the shower and took his dirty clothes. I threw it all in the wash and started making dinner. Mac and Cheese, Pizza Rolls, and Corn Dogs. John entered the kitchen holding a towel around his waist and pushing his dripping blonde hair out of his face. I blushed and smiled. "I've made a feast." I giggled, gesturing to the heap of food on the counter and grinned. John chuckled and I shifted. "Here. I think I might have something that'll fit you." He followed me to my bedroom and I sighed as I fished through my clothes. I handed him my brothers old sweatpants and sweater and John frowned a bit.
"Why do you have such big clothes?" I shifted and bit my lip.
"They're my brother's."
"Oh...Tell him I said 'thank you'." John smiled politely.
"Um-...He's dead."
"Oh! I'm so sorry! I didn't realize-"
"It's ok. I should really get rid of it anyway." John gave me a sad look and I smiled. "I'll be in the kitchen." John nodded and turned around. My eyes widened as I caught a glimpse of long, awful scars on his back. I brushed it off and left the room. I cued up a movie and made sure there were plenty of blankets on the couch. John came down the stairs and I smiled, patting the spot next to me. I handed him a plate full of food and blankets and started the movie.
"Thank you." He smiled gratefully, I nodded and he scarfed his food down. I chuckled and he blushed a bit.
"I have a question." I hummed.
"Sure."
"Where did all those scars on your back come from?" John shifted and set his plate down.
"My father. He started hitting me when I came out so...I ran away." He shrugged.
"Oh, that's awful, John." He huffed and sighed.
"What about you?"
"What about me?" I frowned.
"What happened to your brother?"
"I used to live on an island in the Caribbean and there was a hurricane. The house collapsed and crushed him." John's eyes widened and I huffed.
"Damn...I'm sorry." I nodded a bit and leaned back into the couch. John leaned back next to me and I blushed.
"Are you still cold?"
"A little. My hands are freezing." He mumbled.
"Maybe I can warm them up." I smiled, John blushed a bit and I took his hands in mine. "Jesus. They are cold." I gave him more blankets and he smiled.
"Now you don't have any blanket." He observed.
"Well, you're colder." I shot back, John pulled me closer to him and I blushed. John ended up eating almost all the food and fell asleep on my shoulder. He must've been exhausted. Poor thing. I ran my fingers through his damp hair and let him sleep for a bit before waking him. "John!" I whispered, shaking him a bit. "Come on." He yawned and groggily sat forward. "You can sleep in my bed tonight. Ok?"
"No." He whined. "It's your bed."
"Don't argue with me. You've gone far too long without sleeping in a bed." John huffed and let me tow him upstairs. I tucked him in and made sure there were plenty of blankets for him. I turned to leave the room and he grabbed my arm.
"Wait!" He sniffed a bit and let go. "I just don't wanna be alone anymore." He whispered, I smiled and crawled into bed with him.
"Neither do I." I smiled, John and I laid in silence for a bit before John asked something.
"Alex? Why are you so nice to me?"
"Why not?"
"You give me twenties, Alex!"
"So?"
"So...why?"
"Because I know how it feels to live on the street. To not have a place to call home. I know that every cent counts." I sighed, John rolled closer and I blushed. "Seeing you is the best part of my day." I mumbled quietly, John blushed and I leaned in a bit. John matched the gesture and closed the gap, connecting our lips and cupping my cheek as I put my hands on his chest. The kiss ended after a moment and we settled in each other's arms, drifting of to sleep.
