{B I L B O}Before I could comprehend my current situation, the creature jumped down from a hidden rock. His back was slouched over, a devilish grin remaining persistent, his hair thin with very few strands framing his aged face. I placed the sword within my grasp in front of my midsection, separating the space between the creature and myself. I felt my stomach turn, sensing the heat rise to my chest from my toes.
"Bless us and splash us, precious," the creature rumbled. "That's a meaty mouthful!" He hissed strangely, a raspy yet gurgled voice now being evident. "Gollum, Gollum!" He choked, licking his lip whilst remaining eye contact. I flinched slightly from his outburst.
"Back," I ordered. "Stay back," I hissed. "I'm warning you, don't come any closer!" I spoke firmly, stepping closer to the creature as he walked backwards from the end of my blade.
"It's got an Elfish blade," the creature mumbled to himself. "But it's not an Elf's," he exhaled sharply. "Not an Elf's, no." He went on thinking about the sword on my hand as I stood my ground. "What is it, precious? What is it?" He questioned, staring me down as I swallowed nervously and furrowing my eyebrows.
"My name," I paused taking a breath, "Is Bilbo Baggins." I finished, shifting in my stance.
"Bagginses?" The creature thought, thinking for a moment. "What is a Bagginses, precious?"
"I'm a Hobbit, from the Shire." I gulped nervously, still protecting myself with the sword in my hands.
"Oh," he paused. "We like Goblinses, batses and fishes," he smirked. "But we hasn't tried Hobbitses before!" He exclaimed before I realized he kept repeating the word we frequently, throwing me off a bit. "Is it soft?" He creepily questioned. "Is it juicy?" he questioned stepping in closer towards me before I swung my sword, trying to keep him away.
"Now, now, keep your distance!" I waved my sword towards his face, making sure he'd stay clear away from me. "I'll use this," he paused inhaling a deep breath. "If I have to." The creature then screeched on all fours, as I took a step back. "I don't want any trouble, do you understand?" I questioned. "Just show me the way to get out of here and I'll be on my way."
"Why?" He questioned examining me. "Is it lost?"
"Yes. Yes, and I want to get unlost as soon as possible." I stated as the creature nodded his head.
"Oh!" The creature exclaimed. "We knows! We knows safe paths for Hobbitses," he paused with excitement written on his face. "Safe paths in the dark. Shut up!" I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion at the way he talked and how he addresses we so often.
"I didn't say anything," I stated, shifting my stance slightly.
"I wasn't talking to you," he bluntly spoke up before turning around behind the rock and continuing. "Oh, yes, we was, precious. We was."
"Look, I don't know what your game is, but I-"
"Games?!" He shouted startling me slightly. "Oh, we love games, doesn't we, precious? Does it like games? Does it, does it? Does it like to play?" He rambled on enthusiastically before letting out a laugh, that seemed a bit strange in the moment.
"Maybe," I stated, but before I could say anything else he interrupted me.
"What has roots as nobody sees?" He paused gesturing his hands to his words. "Is taller than trees? Up, up, up it goes And yet," he grinned. "Never grows!" He pointed his index finger to me waiting for my answer, but of course everyone knows the answer to this specific riddle.
