The beginning...

Skylar looked around with her eyebrows furrowed. Bakit parang may kakaiba? Anong meron?

She smelled a water breeze. Napatingin siya sa silangan at napanganga nang makita ang isang dagat, asul na asul ang kulay ng tubig nito at tila kumikinang ito sa ilalim ng sikat ng araw. It looks enchanting.

She looked at her mother who was busy driving. "Mom, where are we?" She asked, excited. Tingin niya ay nasa tabing-dagat sila. Matagal-tagal na din mula n'ung nakapunta ako sa beach. Thank God naisipan ni Mom na pumunta kami dito.

Saglit siyang nilingon ng ina. Ngumiti ito. "We're in Isla de Majika. Ang ganda dito, ano?" Well, yes. Tinignan niya muli ang paligid. Isla de Majika. What a weird name.

Yet, it sounds cool. It rhymes. She smiled. It looks magical in here too. Kaya siguro 'yun ang pangalan ng isla. Napatango-tango siya.

She took her phone out. Kinuhaan niya ng litrato ang lahat ng nadadaanan nila. She was busy taking pictures but then she realized something. "Mom, this is an island, right?" She asked her mother. Tumango naman ito. "How come we didn't ride a ship or boat? Islands are located in the middle of a sea and only a ship or boat will be able to take us in one. Paano tayo napunta dito?" She asked, curious.

Or maybe we took a plane or a helicopter? Napailing siya. Nah, we don't have the money for that. Hinintay niyang sagutin siya ng ina pero okupado ito sa pagmamaneho. Tatawagin niya na sana ito pero bigla na lang nitong tinigil ang sasakyan. She blinked. Why did we stop?

Her mother looked at her seriously. Hindi niya mapigilang kabahan. Her mother rarely gets serious. Lagi itong nakangiti at positibo. Matagal siya nitong tinignan, tila may gustong sabihin pero hindi nito masabi.

"Mom?" Tawag niya. Her mother closed her eyes then sighed. Pagkatapos ay hinubad nito ang suot na kuwintas at isinuot sa kan'ya. The necklace is a gold one and it has two pendants, an eagle with opened wings and a cloud.

Tinignan niya ang kuwintas. It's beautiful. "Mom, why are you giving this to me? I thought this is your favorite necklace? " She asked. Lagi kasi nitong suot-suot ang kuwintas, kailanman ay hindi nito hinubad 'yon. Ngayon lang.

Her mother smiled at her. "I want you to keep it, Skylar. Take care of it. It's very important to me." Hinaplos nito ang kanang pisngi niya. "It would also serve as your protection. Don't ever remove that necklace, okay?" Kahit naguguluhan, tumango siya.

A necklace for protection? Ano kaya 'yun? Lihim siyang napailing. What did my mom ate for her to be this weird? Napatingin siya sa ina nang lumabas ito ng sasakyan. Sumunod siya. The moment her feet touched the green-grassed ground, tila may kung ano siyang naramdaman, para bang nasa ibang mundo siya at napakasaya ng kalooban niya.
