Birthday Boy

As I woke up on the next morning, I instantly felt Nightmares' missing presence and turned around. He was gone. I stood up tiredly, got dressed, combed and washed and went downstairs to search for them. But first I went to the guest room. It was empty as well and the bedsheets were really messy.
With a loud sigh I finally went downstairs and to the kitchen.
But it was empty as well.
I was getting kinda worried and went to the living room.
Surprisingly, the blinds on the windows were closed and the light was off. Everything was really quiet. It kinda scared me.
I went inside the room and started searching for the Lightswitch on the wall to my left.
When I finally found it, I switched it on and turned around.
Nightmare, Notch, Steve, Jeb, Entity and Null were all standing behind a table with cake and presents.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!", they yelled, smiling brightly.
My jaw fell in disbelief.
Is that how it feels like to celebrate?
Steve came to me and hugged me tightly. "Happy b-day Hero.", he whispered softly.
I hugged him as well, still surprised.
Steve softly released me and closed my mouth. "Hey. Don't be that surprised. Wasn't it clear that something was up since Notch "coincidentally" appeared next to you?"
Come to think of it, I really shouldn't have been that surprised.
Nightmare walked towards me and wrapped his left arm around my body while his right hand rested on my shoulder. Before I knew it he smiled and kissed me gently. I heard a quiet gasp from Notch and Steve, but Jeb, Entity and Null all "awww"-ed.
Nightmare broke the kiss and let me take a deep breath before chuckling: "Happy Birthday, my love~"
I blushed slightly and felt him strike his thumb over my cheek.
Before anyone knew I jumped at him and almost threw him to the ground with my embrace. "This was your idea, wasn't it?", I asked with a muffled voice since I burried my head in his shoulder.
I could almost feel his grin as he  answered: "Indeed it was. But those others helped me with the preparations."
I raised my head and looked at him. "You're crazy. All of you. You didn't have to throw a party like that just for me!"
Notch laughed quietly. "Well, honestly, Nightmare and the others worked together yesterday night in here as I was talking to you on the roof. So there's not much to say about it anymore than: The surprise worked surprisingly well."
Jeb grinned and Entity only rolled his eyes. "Where's Sans when you need his good puns?" He laughed low.
Nightmare set me to the ground and I went over to Jeb, Entity, Null and Notch. Null patted my shoulder softly. "Long time no see Hero. You grew since we met last time."
I snickered. "When we met last time I was 7, Null. No wonder I grew."
Entity and Null both hugged me at the same time, squishing me like a sandwich. But I enjoyed it.
Notch and Jeb both hugged me as well, but after each other. Notchs' hug was short, but gentle, while Jeb almost threw me to the floor. "Herobrine! I missed you! It's great to see you on your birthday again!"
I smiled slightly while I tried to breath under his strong arms. "You're strangling me, Jeb.", I gasped and instantly felt him release me.
"Sorry! I'm just sooooo happy to see you healthy and unharmed!"
After the little welcome I had to blow the candles and wish something which I was not supposed to tell anyone.
I wish for us all that we'll stay save and healthy.
After the candles went out everyone started to clap and cheer.
My smile widened and Nightmare suddenly tapped on my shoulder from behind.
I turned around to see him standing there with a blindfold. He held it up like a piece of paper. "Ready?"
I tilted my head a little bit but nodded. Nightmare blindfolded me and sat me down on a chair. Then he suddenly went away. A few moments later I heard someone else approach. By the rather light steps I instantly recognized Null. He stood in front of me and opened my hands carefully. Then he gave me a little box. It wasn't bigger than a wallet, yet it was really heavy. I raised my head slightly and Notch said: "Unpack it and try to guess what it is."
Like I was told I unwrapped the box, setting the paper down next to me.
A few moments after  I held that box in my hands and carefully opened it.
I felt a cold... Something touching my fingers and pulled back a bit confused. I touched it once more, this time feeling a hard, thin stick in my hand. It definitely wasn't wood, it was something different. It somehow felt like stone but at the same time it was cold and rather flat. I pulled the thing out and felt something like a feather touch my palm. "No... Is that a quill?!", I asked quite surprised. Null chuckled and answered: "It is."
I smiled. "Thank you!"
Extremely carefully I put the quill down on the table next to me and waited for the next present.
This time there were some long, calm steps, rather light as if someone was walking around on tippy toes.
That was definitely Steve. I would recognize those steps anywhere.
Steve gave me a box as well, tiny but blocky. Just like the boxes you use for jewelry. I opened the box and touched what was on the inside.
I could feel a leather band with an attachment on it. The attachment was curved like a claw, but it was rather big and cold like ice. It gave me the chills. It was slightly uneven and I could feel a sharp ending at its tip. "It's a necklace, correct?"
Steve agreed and asked: "Do you know what the attachment is?"
I thought about it for a moment, still feeling the necklace.
"I'd almost say it's a tooth, but I'm not sure. Could be a stone as well."
"Your first guess was right.", Notch chuckled. I was surprised. A tooth on a necklace?
I also thanked him and set it down.
The next person that came had heavy steps. Jeb. Definitely.
The person gave me their present. It was really soft and light. I opened it and a soft cloth fell into my arms. "A... What is that? I don't recognize anything like that.", I mumbled confused and unfolded the cloth. Soon after it was opened completely and I noticed what it was. "A cape!"
Jeb smiled. "Yes."
The game went on. Notch gave me a selfmade music-box and Entity had brought the shard of an extremely rare gem.
Then it was Nightmare turn. He came over and gave me a little box as well. It was the same box as Steve had given me, yet it was a little bit heavier than Steves'. I opened it and reached inside.

We saw Hero's expression change from confusion to a little bit of surprise to full shock.
In the box was a golden ring.
Nightmare planned that and showed me to remove the blindfold while he took the box from Hero.
Said man opened his white eyes confused and watched Nightmare stand there with the box.
"Hero, you probably already noticed what is in this box.
You mean everything to me. You make my day become sunny, no matter how many clouds there may be. You make the problems seem tiny. And no matter what happens, I want to stay with you."
He knelled down on one knee. Hero started to shake slightly as he noticed what is happening.
"Do you want to marry me?"
Hero didn't even wait. "Yes!"
He jumped Nightmare and hugged him tightly. Nightmare caught him softly and they shared a tender kiss.
We all started to clap as they broke the kiss and looked at each other.
"I love you, Hero."
"I love you more, Nighty~"
A quiet chuckle escaped my throat. That was so adorable. Maybe this isn't that bad that they both are together. It would solve quite a few problems.
