"I can be who I am, and yeah
I felt so dead inside
But now I feel so alive, for the first time"

Sleeping with Sirens,

O L I V E R  was more than excited to have met an actual Avenger, and after he arrived home from school, he had pretty much kept Bucky Barnes all to himself. The older man had spent almost two hours being shown countless toys and other things that Oliver seemed important to.

He enjoyed spending time with the little boy. Oliver reminded him of a lot of a young Steve.

Charlie let them have some time together because she knew how much Oliver loved the Avengers. She also thought Bucky could get some good out of hanging out with someone so young and innocent.

She stood in the dining room with a bucket of laundry full of a mix of her and Oliver's clothes. Music was playing quietly on her phone as she folded a pair of his newest boxers; because he suddenly decided he was a big boy and didn't like tighty whities anymore.

It was nearing six o'clock when Oliver finally ventured from his room, with Bucky on his trail. The younger boy immediately went to Charlie's side and wrapped his small arms around her waist.

"I'm hungry. I didn't have a snack after school."

"Well, there's a lot of leftover Chinese food for dinner," Charlie said with a smile and then looked at Bucky. She noticed how he seemed happier than she'd ever seen him. "You can go warm it up."

"Yes!" Oliver nearly yelled before running into the kitchen.

Charlie looked toward Bucky with a smile. "I think you made his entire week. Thank you for staying to meet him. It really means a lot to him, and me."

Bucky wasn't sure what to say but he nodded and smiled. "Thank you, for today. It's been a while..." All words seemed to vanish for a moment. "It's been a while since I've had a day like this."

Charlie knew what he meant. "Well, you're welcome any time."

"He wants me to come trick or treating."

"So I heard," Charlie said. She folded a pair of his pants. And then grabbed another shirt from the bucket. "You don't have to, he just gets really excited about things."

"I would like to." He said without thinking. Then he scratched the back of his neck. "I mean if it means that much to him."

Charlie tried not to smile. "Yeah, if it means that much to him." Then she looked up at him. "Addie is going to drive me to get my car after Oliver eats."
