R E Dwine was poured between the adults at the dinner table as everyone began to take their place at the table. Oliver had stolen the seat next to Wanda; who he had spent the last hour doting on.
The little boy had his very first crush.
And Addie sat on her other side.
The conversation in the room was loud as everyone talked over each other. Though it was nice and peaceful; and being around a normal and caring family brought a part of life back into Sam and Wanda that they hadn't realized they were missing.
Music was playing in the background, some songs dated back to when Bucky was a child. It was peaceful and warm.
Everyone was happy.
"Charlie are we going to do our tradition?" Oliver yelled over the loud noise. He had suddenly remembered the Grant family tradition for Thanksgiving.
Charlie had hoped he would forget. "No, no little man. We can skip it this year."
"But that's not fair we always do it." Oliver said.
The conversation around them silenced and Sam was the one to speak. "What's the tradition?"
"We go around and say one thing we are grateful for. We have to, Charlie."
She bit the corner of her lip and looked at Bucky. She didn't want to even bring up the tradition in case it pained their guests. She couldn't imagine what the hell they would be thankful for after the hell they encountered this year.
And Charlie wasn't the only one who realized that; as the silence that fell soon grew awkward.
Then Addie spoke. "I'm thankful that my father had to go away on a business trip unexpectedly and I'm able to spend my holiday right here, in this seat. Right next to her." She sent a wink towards Wanda.
"Go around in a circle! Mr. Falcon you're next." Oliver said with excitement.
Sam hesitated for only a moment, not sure what to say. "I'm thank for, uh, for being able to be here today."
