"Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here"

W H E N  Bucky woke up the next morning, the first thing he noticed was the music playing softly upstairs; that and Oliver sleeping next to him. He had been gifted more personal space to sleep.

Oliver was still heavily sleeping but the spot next to him was empty and cold; Charlie had left it a while ago.

He groaned with exhaustion and looked at the clock on the wall. It was late for him, barely nine in the morning. His back was stiff when he stood up from the bed and he stretched.

After making sure that Oliver was still asleep soundly, he made his way out of the TV room and up the stairs. He followed the music all the way down the hallway until he came to the master bedroom.

The light was on and the door was partially opened. He knocked softly with his metal hand, and when he heard Charlie, he opened the door.

"Hey." Charlie said with a tired smile. She was sitting on a stool in front of the desk. Her dark hair was wet from the shower. Her fingers were colored with paint and in her hands was a brush. "Morning."

"Hey," His voice was was deeper than usual; hoarse and ugly. He hated the way it differed from how light and beautiful her voice was. "What are you doing?"

"I couldn't really sleep. I figured I'd do some painting. What do you think?" She asked.

Bucky stepped closer to look at what she had been working on. His eyes roamed over the canvas painting, where beautiful swirls of water coloring combined to make a sunset. He thought of Steve.

"It's beautiful." He told her.

"It's not finished. But I like it."

"You're really talented."

"Thanks," Charlie blushed and then looked up at him. She smirked and tried her best to hide it. "You got a little something on your face?"

"What?"

"You should go look. It seems a little weird."

Bucky looked at her for another moment before he backed out of the room and walked across the hall to the bathroom. When he flipped on the lights, feeling embarrassed over his appearance in front of her, he went to the counter to look in the mirror.
