A F T E R Charlie had spent the better part of the night wandering the halls with her grandfather, and getting a history lesson of her people, she walked slowly back to her room in the medical wing.
With cold hands shoved in her pockets, her legs ached with each step that brought her closer to her room. She wanted nothing more than to lie down and sleep; to try and turn her mind off. It was still a mess of everything that had happened in her life and the moments leading up to this.
So when she walked into the room and saw Bucky sitting by the room, she said with a sigh, "What are you doing here?"
Bucky looked up at her with a frown on his face. He was still angry and annoyed over their argument earlier; and he hated it. He hated arguing with her because it seldom happened.
"I thought you'd be here."
"I was with my grandpa." Charlie said and took off the flats she had been wearing. "I didn't think you'd come back after our argument."
"I didn't want to sleep without you." Bucky told her quietly.
Charlie crossed the room and stood in front of him, reaching out to push his hair back as his arms sat around her waist. "I'm glad you're here."
Bucky didn't say anything, instead he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer, resting his head on her stomach. "Me too. I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry, too." Charlie said. "I'm going to talk to Dr. Reyes tomorrow, apparently she might be able to help me control my mutation."
"That's good. Wanda wants to help too." Bucky closed his eyes and held her tighter; despite how cold she was.
"I know she does."
It was silent for a few minutes, both of them caught up in their comforting embrace and the content it brought them. But then Bucky spoke, and interrupted their brief pause in the argument.
"Have you decided if you're going to do what your grandfather wants?"
