"W H A T secret?"
"I was really scared." Her voice was quiet as she admitted what she had felt earlier in the day. "The look in his eyes... I thought he was going to really hurt me."
Guilt once again filled him; Bucky should have been there. He had been there earlier, and he blamed himself. If he hadn't had left she wouldn't have gotten hurt. "He won't do it again. I swear."
Charlie nodded ever so slowly, blinking back a few tears that managed to prick her eyes. But one managed to escape and she wiped it away. "Do you mind if I turn off the light? I'm tired."
"Go ahead." He said. "If you'd like to sleep I cou-."
"No." She interrupted him. "Stay, please?" She didn't fell safe without him. And even though she knew she was safe, the house was locked and even Noah wasn't that much of an idiot to come back, being with the former Solider made her feel safer.
"Okay." He agreed in half a second.
The light switched off and Charlie adjusted herself on the bed. The only light came from the soft glow of the TV from her dresser, and it just barely reached them in the dark room.
The old bed bounced as she got comfortable, adjusting the small cast wrapped around her ankle before she laid down on her side to face the man next to her.
It was odd for her, to lay in a bed with a man, because she hadn't done that in a very long time. And the fact that it was Bucky Barnes, the man that had become such a close friend, made her stomach flutter with nerves and she almost didn't recognize the woman she had become.
He copied her actions and turned to face her. He was worried about her. None of his life experience, which was more than any man should have had, would be able to help with this. Plus, he was too nervous to really know what to say.
But he kept thinking about what Wanda had told him weeks ago, how she did have feelings for him, whatever they may be. Even though there was still so much that had been unsaid between them.
He wasn't sure how to cross that bridge, or how to even attempt to. He didn't want Charlie to ever know or understand what he had been through, what his mind was like, or anything in between that.
