"Hope when you take that jump
You don't fear the fall"

One Republic,
I Lived

O L I V E R was filled with excitement as he stepped into the stimulation room. His brown eyes were looking around the equipment and a smile was clear as day. His hands itched with the idea of learning, of growing his powers, and being like his grandfather. He wanted to be like Logan. He wanted to be like Bucky.

He wanted to be a superhero.

Charlie was less than thrilled to walk into the room. The metal bracelets she had been gifted where tightly wrapped her wrists. The air didn't cool when she entered the room; and for once, she felt normal. The bracelets were working.

She still did not want to be here.

"Alright," Logan said loudly. His brown eyes were flickering between Charlie and Oliver. "Charles told me that we would be working in controlling your powers today."

"I want to be an X - Men." Oliver said, and then in a second, a small flame was lit up in the palm of his hand.

Charlie looked at her brother and raised an eyebrow. "This is so weird."

"Weird as it may be," Ororo said as she entered the room, "You both need to get them under your control. Charlie, you're with me. Our mutations are very similar and I'm interested to see exactly what it is that you can do."

"I can make ice... apparently." Charlie said quietly and looked at her hands. "But not with these."

"Dr. Reyes' bracelets are a controlling device. She made something similar for Rogue a few years ago. Take them off and you'll have your powers again."

Charlie was hesitate, of course she was. She swallowed the lump in her throat and slowly took off the bracelets, setting them on the ground.

"Oliver, you're with me." Logan said, "Let's go somewhere fire resistant."

Charlie felt slightly uneasy at the fact that Oliver was being taken somewhere else, but she didn't say anything. Instead she turned to look at Ororo, who was trying to get her attention.

"How do your hands feel?" She asked.

"My hands?"

"Yes. When you took off your bracelet how did you feel?"
