S P R I N G was a beautiful new concept to Bucky Barnes. Having spend the better part of last year's spring as dust in the Wakandan fields, and then recuperating after the tragedy that was the final battle, he didn't really remember the last time he was around during springtime.
Wakanda didn't have spring. It was summer all the time.
He loved the way the grass was always green; how the trees were covered in flowers, and how dandelions grew randomly throughout the front yard. He loved how the weather was always warm, the sky always clear, and the sweet smell in the air.
He was in love with spring.
It was finally Saturday, and after another long week of domestic bliss, Charlie and Bucky sat in the field beside the baseball diamond, where Oliver was standing at first base. He took after his sister.
The warm breeze cascaded over them, sending the aroma of hot dogs grilling at the snack shack between fields.
They were both too lazy to get up from their spot in the grass.
Bucky's head was resting in Charlie's lap, a black pair of sunglasses blocking both the sun from his eyes, and the blue of his eyes from the green of hers.
Her hand was softly running through his hair. "I can't believe you cut it all off."
"It was too long."
"I know. It was almost as long as mine." Charlie said. She could just barely tug on the cut hair that had once grown past his shoulders. "I like it though. But I'll miss braiding it."
Bucky smiled and looked up at her, enjoying the sun on his skin and the view above him. "Your hair is getting long."
"I know. I'll be cutting it soon." Charlie said. She looked up when she heard a round of excited cheers and watched as the batter from the other team hit a home run.
"Hey, I'm down here." He told her, reaching up to tug her attention back towards him.
She laughed quietly and ran her hands through his hair. "So needy. All the time."
