Leaving the kitchen hurriedly, Daisy ran into Brian who was just waking from his nap.
Rubbing his face he yawned "where's the rush D?"
"I'm so sorry Bri but I need to go home, I'm not feeling the best and...I just need to go" her lie failed to convince him resulting in a frown.
"You don't expect me to believe that do you?" He asked unimpressed "it's Christmas Daisy, whatever the issue you're a big girl and can put it aside to spend time with your friends"
He was absolutely right. The fact however was, that being around Freddie was a level of pain that she didn't want to put herself through regardless of what day it was.
Freddie emerged from the kitchen and paused as both Brian and Daisy looked at him.
A small smile crept over Brian as he assumed he knew why Daisy was trying to make an escape "you're staying"
Daisy nodded defeatedly, then gave a smile that reassured Brian that she wouldn't ruin Christmas with her absence and would stay with the group.
Once everyone awoke from their afternoon festive siesta, a group vote resulted in the Monopoly board being pulled out, and with the boys competitive streak emerging before the box lid even opened.
Freddie decided to sit back while resting his ankle over his knee. A brandy glass balanced between his fingers which he swirled before lifting the rim to his lips at each sip.
Keeping his eyes on the board, he tried to avoid looking up at Daisy who unlike him, would look up at him regularly.
Feeling rejected, Freddie was annoyed with his inability to decipher Daisy's thoughts.
She willing had sex with him in the kitchen, then acted distant. What was she playing at?
Looking over at her finally, the hardness in his face dissolved as she laughed along with the others. Her face lit up and enhanced her beauty which drove him crazy.
Noticing his stares, Daisy shifted in her seat. The stinging between her legs made her wince slightly. Her body had grown unaccustomed to his large size and she could still feel him inside her, a treat she relished, and regretted at the same time.
Standing up, Freddie walked over to Brian's piano and lifted the lid which covered the keys. Sitting down on the long stool in front of it, he placed his cigarette onto the corner of a nearby ashtray and began to play some notes while listening to the tone of the sounds.
Once satisfied with the tone of the instrument, his long fingers danced along expertly on the white keys, to a tune that no one expected him to play.
His amazing piano rendition had everyone turn and listen, while he began to sing the lyrics of their dear friend George Michael's popular song "Last Christmas".
With a truely beautiful performance, there was absolutely no faulting the perfection in his voice, even with such a spontaneous and unrehearsed performance.
It was times like these that made Daisy's heart ache. She missed the luxury of hearing Freddie's voice spread throughout the house as he would perform for her in their home.
"Fuck Fred, that was bloody nice" Roger said in surprise as the song concluded.
"Thanks mate" Freddie replied with an appreciative smile before looking to Daisy "could I have a word outside?"
Standing instantly as though she were being called to the principals office, she followed him towards the front door where he offered her her jacket, then took her out the front of the house.
The winter air was cold, but tolerable. Daisy shivered slightly as the anticipation of what he would say rather than the temperature around her.
Trying to mask it as simply being cold, she clutched her jacket close to her and waited.
"I wanted to get somethings off my chest" he began "what happened in there...I'm glad it did. I won't even try to deny that feeling you, and not even just sexually but just simply feeling YOU was incredible to me. I understand and respect if you don't want to be with me, but I want you to know, that I will spend the rest of my life trying to win you back because this" He pointed to himself then her "this is something more than just a simple relationship. There's something here Daisy and I can't....I won't let that pass"
Clutching her jacket now painfully tight, she looked at his beautiful face. His warm brown eyes hopefully looked back at her. His flawless bone structure, his shoulders, torso, legs, everything about him was heavenly. She knew that what he was saying was sincere and truthfully, she felt exactly the same.
With all that had happened between them thus far, there was no denying that there was a deeper than usual bond between them. Something so powerful that nether time nor distance could simply break.
"I think that you think that I don't want to be in this Freddie, and that couldn't be further from the truth. I didn't leave for any other reason than our entire relationship despite being amazing, also being very toxic to us both. I don't not love you. I love you as much as I did the day I married you, but that soul shattering pain, I just couldn't do it Freddie"
Freddie lifted Daisy's chin with his finger and stepped closer to her. His entire body pressed against hers. Even through her clothes she could feel the heat of his body, that glorious heat which she wished would be right up against her naked skin.
He rubbed his cheek against hers, closing his eyes and enjoying feeling her, before turning his face slightly to meet her lips. Gently, he kissed her with caution. Not wanting to overstep her boundary but unable to resist her when she was so close.
The reality of their situation was complicated. They weren't kids, they both knew that love was simply not the only deciding factor when determining a relationship.
"I'll leave Queen" he blurted out.
"What?! Jesus no!" Daisy frantically replied.
"Then what do I do baby?" His voice turned desperate and sad. His longing for her was right there in his tone, and sadly it was not something sh had a desired answer.
"We just need to leave it be..."
Leave it be? He repeated her words in his head. He didn't want to leave it or her be. He wanted to take her home and wake up with her every morning. He wanted to bring her her favourite flowers and watch her close her eyes as she enjoyed their aroma. He wanted to make love to her at every chance he could whenever he wanted. The last thing he was willing to do was "leave it be"
"You know I can't do that Daisy, as long as we're in each other's lives I can't pretend I'm not in agony being around you" he confessed, his hands now firmly holding her waist.
Swallowing hard, she despised her next sentence "then maybe I should stay out of your way Freddie, permanently"
