This has a similar beginning to ToL and Icarus gosh dang it DXD
Just a short thing, I'm running low on time because I'm doing NaNoWriMo (national novel writing month) and as you can bet, not a lot of time to be writing anything but...

Grian was missing.
Not exactly missing, as the hermits knew where he was, just not where he was.
They had the horrific discovery that that Grian they had known for how long wasn't actually Grian, but instead an AI alter ego called NPC Grian. There had been a mad, serverwide scramble to catch the copycat and force him to return their friend, but in the end he hadn't been caught and they had no clues to where the fraud or Grian actually were.
Day three of the search was ending and there had been no luck.
As the sun set as a deep red crescent on the edge of the ocean, the server rumbled. The hermits, who had been returning to their bases weary and worried, braced for the ground to stop shaking. Some went to their communication devices, asking the others if they had felt the tremor as well, and others launched right back into the air with elytra and spammed fireworks to see the cause.
Somewhere distant away from any player on the server, in a swamp that was the home of the dead and gone, a high, tormented scream echoed across the flat marsh. An angry white beam of light laced with red shot into the air like a some sort of malicious, but still pure, beacon. The singular scream worsened to something almost inhumane as the beam went up. And then it faded, and so did the strange light.
On the hermit's communicators, two messages came through on the server chat. Both were in strange symbols. For the few that could read Galactic and the even fewer that could read Glitched, the pieces of the messages were even more confusing. And ultimately unreadable.
Xisuma, as the wise admin he was, checked the player data once more to, hopefully not, see anything changes within their missing friend Grian.
Instead, he found something even worse. Grian's username was gone and what the admin could only assume was him was replaced with Glitched text and the magenta and back checker pattern of a missing picture. But also most curiously, there was something else he didn't recognize.
A new player. Black hair and black dot eyes almost like Grian's in his stylized pictures of himself, and a pair of red and blue headphones. The player was labeled "Taurtis."
Xisuma teleported himself to this invader. He had his hand on his sword as he came to a burnt crater in the Halloween District. The new player shrieked and scrambled backwards, tripping and falling to the ground.
As soon as Xisuma saw the tear streaks shining on the stranger's cheeks he knew something was wrong with him as well. He changed his stance to be less threatening and dropped to a knee beside the black-haired man. He scooted back some but was shaking too much to summon the strength to fight.
"Who are you?" Xisuma asked softly.
"Taurtis. W-where's Grian," was all the stranger whispered. "I heard him- oh Notch I heard him, screaming- where is Grian?!"

So what if I told you all this is the denied part two to "Grian" but I'm not doing a part three? >:D
Happy late Halloween I suppose?
