Tom woke up to a pounding headache. The freeing numbness he felt that night had disappeared along with the moon, and now he was just a boy in pain lying on the kitchen counter. His alarm was going off from his room, so he pushed himself up and slowly walked towards it. The room was still covered with his broken guitar. He ignored the pieces on the floor and moved to get changed. Tom was displeased to find his sweater missing. He couldn't remember where he had left it, in fact in this moment he couldn't remember much of anything.

Eventually he got dressed. He currently sat on the floor of the living room, staring at the still unconscious man on the floor. Mr. Seas would wake up at any moment, and he most definitely wouldn't be happy. Tom decided to return upstairs, grabbing a duffle bag that was under his bed. He started to pack up some clothes and toiletries. Finally he snuck into Mr. Seas room and grabbed the beer money that was under his bed. Tom didn't know where he was going, but he was sure he was gonna get the hell out of there. Just before leaving Tom grabbed his phone, it's charger, and the family picture that sat on his dresser.

Leaving the house behind forever was one of the best decisions Tom had ever made. He was so glad to be free. Tom had found a cheap motel in his area which he used the money to crash at, and left his stuff there. He then headed outside, actively choosing to skip school for the day. He wasn't willing to try and handle social interaction. He continued to wander the streets, trying to get over his headache.

At this moment he wanted Tord with him. He wanted to hug someone, to know someone was going to be there for him. But he knew everyone was busy with their own problems. He didn't need to bother them, and they probably didn't want him around. So instead he continued his walk, consumed by his thoughts.

When it started to get dark Tom returned to the motel. He noticed his phone had a medley of missed calls and texts, but he chose to ignore them. Instead he plopped down on the small bed and passed out.

His mind was a mess. A swirling array of memories, mainly the one of last night. His back still throbbed, and he couldn't stop seeing the insane look Mr. Seas had on his face when he slammed Tom into the wall. He felt so scared, disappointed, alone.

Tom woke up at around six in the morning. His head pounded as did his back. But today he decided to go to school. He wouldn't talk to anyone, he just needed to be somewhere that pulled him out of the horrors of his mind. He felt himself trying to balance on the edge, and he was afraid he would fall. Into what? He had no idea. But that obsidian black that lay beneath couldn't be anything good.

He dragged himself into the shower, only noticing he had smelled like alcohol once the smell was gone. He then tamed his hair with his hands and changed into the clothes he brought with him. Tom could do without his school supplies for the day.

Tom purposely avoided the main hangout spot in the cafeteria. He didn't want to be bothered. Instead he went early to his math class and sat in the back in silence until the first bell rang.
