9:11am

I haven't seen Mark since that day.

He really must've disappeared.

Even when I go to his apartment, there's no answer.

I wait for him at school but he doesn't show up.

I sit under my tree in the park expecting him to pop his beautiful head around the corner, but he's not there.

I wait for him every Saturday, like today, and he's not here.

I miss him.

I miss him a lot.

"Jackson!"

My aunt storms out of the kitchen with a saucepan, containing boiling water, in her hand.

"Did I want this water to boil?"

I shrug.

"You don't know? Didn't I tell you to put a pot of water on the stove? Did I mention turn on the heat!" She yells to the point her face starts to turn red.

I shrug again. My mind hasn't necessarily been with me for the past few days. It's never really with me.

My aunt stares at me. I've never seen her this angry.

The thing that happens next is something I didn't expect.

She throws the boiling water on me.

The water burns my arms and wets all of my clothes. I shrink to the floor and hold my burning arms.

"Shrug again! Do it!" She stomps towards me, the saucepan in her hand raised to hit me.

She's going to hit me with it. I know she is.

I attempt to crawl away but it's too late.

The pan smacks against my face. A metallic taste fills my mouth, my cheek sizzles from the hot, metal pan connecting with it.

One hit isn't enough for her. She smacks me over and over.

My coworkers have to come out and stop her.

"Get off of me! Don't stop me! Let me kill this little bastard!" My aunt fights in their arms.

"He's ruined everything! My life used to be great without him! You fucking bastard!" She chucks the pan at me. It lands in my lap and hits a man's most sensitive area.

I curl into a ball as she lunges at me. Her punches, slaps and kicks torment my body.

Please stop.

It hurts.

It's so painful.

Please.

Mark...

Help me.
