Caitlin's POV

The sight in front of me was too much to bare. My eyes dared to look away but I couldn't help but keep them open, simultaneously taking in each and every single action that was happening in front of me. It was like being stabbed in the chest. Instead of smoothly pulling out the sharp and immaculate knife, it was aggressively dragged right across my torso, making the pain more unbearable than ever. And this pain grew stronger and stronger as the blood uncontrollably seeped out, making me feel weak and vulnerable. That's when I truly realized how a heartbreak felt.

My breathing became unsteady, the panting coming from my mouth seeming more louder than the boisterous music. I couldn't believe what I was seeing but at the same time, I knew deep down it was something that I didn't want to believe. It was something that I wish I never set my eyes on. Unfortunately, I had no other choice but to put up with it because I was aware that it would bother me forever.

His lips weren't touching hers but god, were they close. So close that I cringed at the thought of them actually making contact with each other. His hands were resting on the edge of the white kitchen counter as he was leaning into her, trying his best to make his body touch hers. I could see his faint breath abiding onto her face due to how fucking close they were. She had a destructive smirk on her face, almost as if she knew I was watching. Just standing there, watching them speak to each other as if I didn't exist. As if I was in another world.  As if I was the last of their worries.

She had long dark hair that was perfectly curled and stopped right at her petite waist. The cotton material of the dress hugged her body so perfectly, every curve being thoroughly accentuated. Her long and slim legs were gratifying and I couldn't help but feel such envy towards her.

I didn't move until I realized how long I was frozen for, while intently watching their interaction with one another. I took a few steps towards them, close enough for both of them to finally lose their attention from each other and look at me. I nearly choked at the words but I finally managed to let them out, my voice seeming faint and defenseless. "Justin," I shook my head and closed my eyes shut, trying my best not to let the warm tears trickle down my cheeks and show how weak I was. "How could you?"

That was the problem though. I was weak. I was vulnerable. I was defenseless and couldn't do anything about it except for leave and that's exactly what I did. Before another thought, I turned on my heels and walked to the living room, successfully dodging all the bodies dancing around me. I stopped at the couch, said goodbye to Ronnie and Blaire, picked up my jacket and exited the house, not even bothering to take one last look behind me.

The cold air hit me almost instantly as I walked out to the front yard of the house, the bass of the music still being heard from my position. Chicago's rainy weather was soon to commence due to the fact that April was just around the corner. Luckily, the clouds didn't insist on making it pour that night, leaving my hair in its regular state and not damp like other days. My teeth began hitting each other as a gust of wind traveled around the neighborhood, making me feel even colder.

I opened my purse and began rummaging through the items, trying to find my phone. It was dark and I sure as hell didn't want to walk home. Not to mention, it was freezing and I was way too far away from my apartment to even attempt walking. I quickly dialed the number for a cab and waited patiently as somebody on the other line picked up.

"Hi, can I get a cab to 57-"

"Cait!" I heard somebody call behind me.

I groaned in frustration while tightening the grip on my phone, the familiarity of the voice making me instantly know who it was. I turned around but to my shock, it wasn't who I thought it was. I quickly hung up and tugged a piece of hair behind my ear.
