(Y/n's P.O.V)
I sat alone in the elevator for a while, not pressing the buttons. I was just dumbfounded by what had just happened. Is this really happening? Is it some sick joke? No, he's not like that. I was too in shock to cry, so after about 5 minutes, I pushed the button and went up to my room. I slowly pulled the handle, then walked into my room. I looked around for something to do, and just knelt down, then curled up on the floor. We had the weekend to finish practicing for our provisional license exams, so now was no time to get depressed. But I couldn't lift myself off the ground. I used all my strength but my body just wouldn't let me get up. I sighed and screwed my eyes tightly shut trying to block out the familiar feeling of numbness, but it didn't help. I lay there pondering my thoughts and slowly becoming more and more numb for hours. I eventually fell asleep, then was woken up by a knock at my door.
I blinked my eyes open lazily, then remembered everything that had happened, and just shrugged it off. I have things to do and a license to get, who needs feelings? "Who is it?" I called, dragging myself up into a sitting position, and grabbed my phone off the floor beside me and the home screen read '7:05AM, 23 missed messages, 3% battery' "It's Mina and Toru! We're here to check in on you, and we're having an early breakfast this morning to get in extra training! Almost everyone is going!" the voices behind the door announced, and I sighed "Ok, ok. I'll be down in a bit. Wait, is Kaminari going to be downstairs?" I picked up my phone and charger at the question. "Yeah, why?" "My phone is about to die." I answered plainly, getting some giggles. I brushed my hair quickly, detached all my feathers, then called them back to put the in perfect order, then changed into a normal t shirt and leggings. I stepped out to see that Mina and Toru had left without me, and I shrugged, then went back to my room and jumped off the balcony, fluttering my wings to soften the landing. I walked in the front door and joined my classmates at the assorted tables. I glanced at Shoto as I walked by, and our eyes met for a second, causing my wings to bristle in unease. I kept walking and decided to sit with Jiro, who happened to be sitting by Kaminari. "Good morning, guys." I said flatly, pushing back the seat. "Hey (Y/n). You feelin ok?" Jiro asked, and Kaminari poked his head around to be part of the conversation too. "Yeah, I'm just fine. How about you guys?" I replied, which Jiro and Kaminari exchanged a look then Jiro said "I'm good. Didn't sleep too well, but otherwise I'm fine." And Kaminari agreed. "I'm hungry... Hey Kaminari, I'm gonna go get some food, could you charge this up for me? I know you don't like being the human battery pack, but it's about to die." I held up my phone and charger, and he nodded "Sure, of course. No problem, (Y/n)." "Thanks." I replied, and thought of why everyone was acting so strange and careful around me. It's not like I'm a ticking time bomb set to go off at any moment when they least expect it. I'm just... A hollow shell.
I walked to the cupboard and picked out a small pack of apple cinnamon oatmeal, then boiled some water in a kettle quickly. I poured it into the cup, and a bit splashed on my arm, causing me to jerk away and toss it onto the stove again. I noticed everything had gone silent, and all eyes were either on me or Shoto. Shoto was staring at the kettle that had landed on it's side on the stove top, and I just stared blankly back. After a few tense moments, he got up and left without a word, and I reached and picked up the kettle and set it upright. I walked back to my seat, and conversation seemed to pick back up once I was back in a chair and Shoto was gone. I sighed and blew on my meal softly to cool it down, then began eating it. I finished quickly, and sent a feather to toss it in the trash. I wiped my mouth on my arm and looked over at Kaminari, who then smiled and held up my phone that was now at 50%. "Wow that's quick, thank you Kaminari." I responded in an emotionless voice. His smile faltered, but he realized I meant well, even if I didn't sound particularly enthused. I realized how I can across and opened my mouth to apologize, but decided not to.
I held out my hand and collected the phone and charger, then said "Thanks guys, but I have to go." "Where you headed?" Mina asked, coming over. "I'm going to see if I can use one of the school's training grounds. I have to be ready for the test." "But what about what happened yesterday, kero?" Asui commented from behind me, and soon all of the girls were around me. "I don't care about what happened yesterday. All that matters is what happens on Monday, now I have to leave." I said, spreading my wings to make a circle clear around me. I walked out the front door and took off to my balcony, but my wings skipped a beat when I passed Shouto who was standing on his balcony on the floor above mine and looked taken aback by my sudden appearance. With the falter, I dropped a few feet but beat my wings harder and stumbled clumsily onto my balcony. I peered up to his balcony and saw him struggling to get his hand unstuck from ice that had spread across the railing, and a small flurry of snowflakes drifted down, landing on my face and in my hair. I closed my eyes and felt the snow melt onto my face, and sighed at the calming feeling. I walked into my room and changed into my gym uniform and headphones, gave Karasu some food from the fridge then jumped the balcony again.
