So, last chapter wasn't of the best quality. I wrote it the night before I left for a camp in another state, so I was tired and nervous and just wanted to get something turned out before being without technology for a week, so I'm going to make this one a good one.

(Todoroki's P.O.V)

When I got home, my father loomed over me and told me that we were having guests over for dinner. "So?" I said. "Shoto, you are required to be home for the dinner. I'm having another important hero over to discuss some tactics and perhaps ways to work together more often." he replied sternly. I sighed then quickly changed into street clothes and headed to the hospital to see my mother for the first time since she was sent there, despite some protest from Fuyumi.

(Y/n's P.O.V)

I decided to walk home instead of fly today. I walked past flower bushes and let my wings brush them, scattering petals through the wind. I put in of my earbuds and kept walking. I didn't put on any music, because I want to hear the world, but the world doesn't need to know I'm listening. I walked along glaring at everyone and everything. I felt as though everything and everyone was a threat. I paused and took out a black hoodie with white drawstrings and thumb holes and pulled it on. I avoided people's glances, and I saw one or two kids point at me and ask their mother something. Eventually on the train home someone came up to me and asked in a slow, drawing voice "You're the girl who quit the tournament, right? From U.A?" I glanced up to see a tall, thin man with a casual button up shirt buttoned all the way up, looking almost as though it was choking him a bit. I took out my earbuds and looked up at him, gave him a curt nod, then looked back at my phone. "Heh, wow. Cool, a U.A. student. A weak one at that." He said, his tone turning quiet and weighted at the end. "Sir, are you clean?" I muttered, catching a whiff of strong whiskey. "Don't worry about that, sweetheart." he replied, moving closer. "Ok, that's close enough, soldier." I said, and sent a feather to his throat. "Oh, what's a feather gonna do, tickle me so you can run?" he slurred. I held up a single finger, and brought up another feather, slowly slicing through my skin, a scarlet stream made it's way down my hand. "Ok, no need to get hasty, I was just wondering." He stumbled, hurrying away, pushing through the crowd. I called the feather back, and stepped out at my stop, blood dripping from the tip of my finger.

Walked to my doorstep, let out a sigh and prepared myself for what my family was going to say, then stepped inside. "I'm home." I stated. My mother rushed towards the doorway, then whisked me over to the living room couch. "(Y/n), you're finger! At least bandage it, you're bleeding everywhere! You really must stop doing this, there's already stains on your door handle." My father said as I sat down. I let out an exasperated sigh and rolled my eyes while sending a few feathers for the bandages. "The bastard needed to know his position." I answered. "What?" my father asked, looking up from his phone. "I took the train home today. Didn't feel like flying. Drunk guy came up to me and asked about why I withdrew from the sports festival, and then it got uncomfortable, he mentioned that I must be weak. Implying that I would be easy to take advantage of, so I held a feather to his throat. It didn't register with him what it could really do, so I showed him." I stated. "Well, while violent, I'm glad you're alright." my father responded, suddenly uninterested once more. "Well, I'm surprised any man would show interest in you with that awful scar of yours. I swear, you'll never find a husband after that." my mother reminded me. I looked down and let my hair fall over my eye more. "Sorry..." I mumbled. "Well, anyway. You have a dinner with your brother later tonight. He's going to another hero's place and wanted to bring you, since the hero has a son your age. Doubt the poor boy would every consider you for a wife though. Tsk, such a shame you had to ruin your lovely face." mom finished. "Ok." I said, then headed off to my room. "And at least try to look nice, honey?" my mom suggested. "Sure, mom." I said.

I came out in a pair of skinny jeans and a nice jacket, but my mom seemed almost completely outraged and sent me back into my room "I didn't raise you to look like a- a- oh you know! Just put on a skirt or something. Maybe some color for once? And not a trashy jacket? Could you try to make a good impression?" she rambled as I walked back to my room. I sat down and put on a song quietly in the background and fished around in my closet.

"This is what you're getting, deal with it." I said, stepping out in light grey leggings, combat boots, and a navy blouse. My hair was styles a bit nicer than I normally have it, but still covering my eye and scar of course. "At least put on some heels-" "No." "You ready to go?" I turned an saw my brother standing in the doorway. I nodded and we headed out. "Just follow me." he said, then lifted off from the ground. I jumped into the air after him. We glided side by side in silence, except for the occasional wing beat. "Why'd you do it? And I don't want the same crap you gave Midnight." "There are other years. I want to at least look like I care about the people around me. And not just in a hero way. I want my classmates to know that I am trying to be kind and want to be a part of the group. Instead of, you know, doing it for the fame and only being a hero for the money and attention." I replied bitterly. "You're still hung up on that, huh? Cool that you can believe a lie for so long." "Maybe I'd believe it was a lie if you actually treated those around you kindly." "Tsk, what happened? How did you turn out like this? How did I end up with a little sister who doesn't understand basic factors of life? Doesn't realize that she isn't a saint for spewing this bullshit!" he yelled. "Oh, are you that dense? If you hate it that much, maybe you should've thought about that before left. You spew a fair amount of bullshit yourself, mister amazing." I said, then beat my wings hard, rising above him. I continued to follow, I just didn't want to continue such a pointless argument with such an ignorant blowhard.
