Shielding (Todoroki x reader)

29~ Captured

(Shoto's P.O.V)

Bakugo and I were attacked by this strange guy, with teeth he could extend. He seemed deranged, talking about how we were slabs of meat, and about us showing our flesh. All of the sudden we heard the group start to rumble, and Shoji burst out of the forest with Midoriya on his back. Close behind them was a rampaging Dark Shadow. "Kacchan!" Midoriya yelped as they drew nearer. "Shoji and Midoriya. And is that... Tokoyami?" I said, processing the situation. "We need some light, now! He's out of control!" One of Shoji's mouths shouted, sounding panicked. "He's attacking blindly. I'll use my fire." I offered, setting down Tsuburaba. "Not so fast." Bakugo stopped me, and we watched the villain we were fighting get up. "Flesh. Slabs of meat. No good. Can't allow it. I'm the one who gets to slice them open. Don't steal from me!" he rasped, then shot his teeth at dark shadow. "You don't matter. Insignificant bug!" it roared back, grabbing hold of the villain. "Now, finish him." Bakugo instructed. Dark Shadow threw the villain harshly against a tree, knocking him out. "Not enough! It's not enough!" it roared, and Bakugo and I lept forward, using our quirks to brighten up the surrounding area, and Dark Shadow let out a squeak as it shrunk. "And once again. I'm a terrible matchup for you, birdboy." Bakugo retorted harshly. I put out my flames, and Tokoyami said "Thanks, you saved me." 

I turned away and looked at the villain, and said "We could barely defend against that guy, but you beat him instantly." To be honest, I was kinda impressed. "My friend, are you ok? You did what we needed you to." Shoji asked, nearing Tokoyami. "Shoji. I apologize. You too, Midoriya. I'm still far too immature. Anger consumed me. And I let my Quirk take over. The influence of the darkness, combined with my fury, spurred Dark Shadow into a frenzy. Until... it got so strong I couldn't contain it. And I ended up hurting Shoji." Tokoyami grimaced, the guilt clear in his voice. "We'll deal with that later. That's what you'd say if our roles were reversed." Shoji assured him, and he looked up in surprise, and Midoriya smiled and laughed. "Okay. I don't know if you heard Mandalay, but I found out the villains are after Kacchan." Midoriya said, his tone turning serious. "Bakugo? Are they trying to kill him? Why?" Tokoyami asked, concerned. "I'm not sure. But I think we should get back to camp. It's the safest place now, so long as Vlad King and Mr. Aizawa have regrouped there." Midoriya suggested, and I nodded. "I understand. So our mission is to get Bakugo back to safety by serving as his protectors." agreed Tokoyami. "It's possible the Pussycats are still fighting in the clearing. Going that way would draw the attention of the villains. Plus, it's longer. We should cut straight across." Midoriya thought aloud, and Tokoyami added "We don't know how many enemies there are. We might come across some by chance." "We can use Shoji's search ability. And Todoroki's freezing power. And, if Tokoyami's okay with it, we can always use Dark Shadow now that we can actually control him." Midoriya suggested. "Honestly, with a group like this, we could probably even go up against All Might." Midoriya added, but Bakugo protested "I'd be fine by myself!" "We'll surround you as we walk." I told him, and was met with "I don't need any of your protection, dammit!" "Let's go." Shoji persisted, and started walking. I picked up Tsuburaba and started walking too. "Don't ignore me!" yelled Bakugo, and I responded "Just make sure you keep up." "Don't tell me what to do!" we continued walking, and after a while I remembered something. 

"Hey, Midoriya. You were paired with (Y/n), right?" I asked. "Yeah. When we saw the smoke she went out to go see what the source of it was. She said that she'd report back to Mandalay when she found out. I didn't see her in the clearing... Maybe she went back to the camp." Midoriya said, clearly forcing hope. "She's not the type to pass up a fight, so I doubt it. Especially if that fight is to protect her peers." Tokoyami replied, his tone dark. Eventually we came across Tsu and Uraraka, but there was another girl with them. She was wearing a school girl uniform, but with a machine on her back. Tsu was suck to a tree by her hair, and called out "Quickly, guys! Help her!" The strange girl jumped backwards away from Uraraka, and Uraraka shouted "Stop!" "There's too many people here now, and I don't feel like being killed tonight. Toodles." The girl replied, sounding sad. She briefly looked back, and a blush crossed her face. "Get her!" Uraraka shout, standing up, and Tsu held her back gently "It's too dangerous. We have no idea what kind of Quirk she has." we watched the girl run off into the woods, and then we ran up to join the pair. "Who was that girl just now?" I asked. "One of the villains. She was crazy." Tsu responded, and Midoriya gasped "Uraraka, you're hurt!" "It's not bad, I can still walk okay. You're the one who looks terrible!" she responded. "We can't stand here and talk. Let's move." Shoji reminded us, and Midoriya said "I'm just glad you didn't get injured too bad. Now come one, join our group. We're protecting Kacchan and making our way back to camp. We could use your help." "If you're protecting Bakugo, then, shouldn't he be standing here with you guys?" Tsu asked, confused. "Huh? What are you talking about? He's right over here, behind u-" Midoriya cut off when we turned to see Bakugo and Tokoyami were missing.
