(Midoriya's P.O.V)

As I thought about it, I realized the best strategy was for our class to work together, so before they could split up, I yelled "Everyone! Stay close together, we'll fight them as a group." Uraraka nodded in agreement, and Iida responded "Got it." "Yeah right. This isn't a field trip." Bakugo scoffed, then walked away. "Idiot! Wait up!" Kirishima protested, following him. "Kacchan!" I said, annoyed but not surprised. "Kirishima!" Iida shouted after them, only for Todoroki to speak up "I'm going on my own, too. It's hard for me to use my power safely when a big group's around." and he ran off. "Todoroki!" I yelled, shocked. I heard a rustling behind me, and (Y/n) was standing with her wings unfolded. "Come on, you too?" I asked, hurt. "I'm on the same page as Shoto. Good luck, guys." she responded. At least she's talking again. "Fine. Thanks, (Y/n). Good luck to you too."

(Y/n's P.O.V)

I ran out from the group so I wouldn't knock anyone down when I took off, and just as I rose from the ground and started to circle above to look for somewhere to go, the test began and waved of students attacked the UA group. I considered going back down to help, but I've already made my choice. I flew up and perched at the top of the spire above all the fighting and scanned the crowd of attackers for someone to pick off. There. I swooped down right in front of Midoriya while he was still mid-air from his jump kick. I grabbed a girl by the collar of her jacket, eliciting a few shocked screams and her to start yelling and struggling as I shook the orange balls out of her hands, then I tossed her into the air and caught her by the wrists so she couldn't reach for my pockets. I flew up higher and saw the expressions on my classmate's faces. Some were watching me, irritated, others shocked and confused. Before I left to get this girl out, I saw a ball fly towards Midoriya that he didn't seem to notice, so I shot down a feather to deflect it. He smiled at me, then went back to the fight to stay in. A small group from another school had focused their fire on me, I assume they're this girl's classmates, but I just blocked them with feathers and occasionally used the girl as a human shield. I flew on to the top of a building in the city terrain, and I let her go, dropping her about ten feet to the roof. While she focused on landing safely, I sent feathers to hold her still and I got her out. She started crying and angrily throwing pebbles at me, and I said "Better luck next time."

Then took off, only to immediately be swept up into a small hurricane of students and balls, and when I oriented myself, I say the Inasa kid standing on top of a building watching it happen. No, not happening. I'm not going out to this bitch. I pushed myself in one direction as hard as possible going with the wind current, and crossed my arms over my face as I sent myself barreling through a window. I shook out the glass bits from my hair and wings, then used feathers to carefully brush them off everywhere else, particularly my face. I only got a few cuts, and none of the glass got embedded into me, so that's good. I ran through the building, then jumped through another window, but with my wings around me like a protective shell this time. Once I busted through to the other side, I dropped down to the ground because if I flew the wind would suck me back in way to easily at this distance. I ran until I reached the factory-ish area and began weaving through the pipes and platforms. I kept having to duck and hide, and wait in the shadows for minutes at a time because of my disadvantage, but I knew it would be worth it. "Let's see, what are we at now? Things've been moving a lot more quickly. Looks like 52- make that 53 have passed. And, looking on the other side of things. It seems 230 examinees have failed. Less than half the spots are open. Now's the time to move. Don't dally, kids." Mera's voice echoed through the testing arena. "Shit! I don't have time for this." I quietly cursed, then started climbing up to the top of the area by hand, the space I was in too small for my wings to open. Once out I flew up to a high point and waited, search the area.

I heard a loud commotion and flew over to it. There were too many people attacking at once for me to tell who it was or what was going on, but I decided to hover and find the right time to drop in and grab someone. The group started moving, so I followed, but when we got there I knew who they were after and what was about to  happen. "Shit- SHit- SHIT-" I said, trying to either rise higher up or back away from the gas tank punctured by ice, but suddenly flames flashed beneath me and I was sent flying with the attackers. I quickly regained my balance and grabbed the wrists of two ninja lookin kids. The rest of them were frozen below us, and Shoto was looking around in confusion, probably looking for the two. "Oy. Up here." I said, too focused on points to care who I was talking to. "(Y-Y/n)?" He stuttered in surprise. "I'm borrowing this one, hope you don't mind. You can get this guy out." I said, dropping the red ninja kid at Shoto's feet, then pressing all of the targets on the kid I was holding. He stood there shocked for a second, then got the rest of the kids out. In sync, our targets blinked blue and said "Students who have passed the exam should congregate in the anteroom. Chop, chop." ""Well. I guess we should head back. Do you want me to fly you over too? It makes more sense." I offered, holding out my hand. "(Y/n), you're bleeding." he said, and I wiped my forehead and pieces of glass smeared with blood that I had missed earlier came off onto my glove. I dusted off my hands and said "So, you want a ride or not?"

"Yeah, it'd be great if you could." he responded, avoiding eye contact. I grabbed him by the wrists and took off, and he was silent for the whole thing, and I realized he was staring at my arms, since my sleeves had been tattered and torn from the windows and explosion. We reached the anteroom and he stumbled through words "Um, are those- are you ok-?" "I'm fine, don't worry about that. Nice work, Todoroki. We'll just have to wait for everyone else now." I said, coming off of the adrenaline high of the test and feeling tears form in my eyes. I quickly hurried away before he could say anything else and went into the bathroom. I cleaned off the blood and any extra glass, extra careful this time. I stared into my eyes in the mirror, and my hand went up and gently traced my scar on my eye. My hand started shaking, and I remembered how he stood up for me in front of my family, and how the first time we met was only because I saw his scar, and he wasn't hiding it like me. I quickly got very agitated at all these thoughts coming at such a bad time, so I slammed my fists down on the bathroom counter and lightly sliced my arm with a feather, washed it, then took out some bandages from my mini first aid kit in my belt, tied them tight, swept my hair over my scar to hide it as well as possible, then went back to the anteroom.

(Shoto's P.O.V)

Those scars... they were so perfect and organized, there's no way they could've been an accident. (Y/n) ran into the bathroom after we talked, and a few minutes later she came out with one arm wrapped in bandages and her scar covered up. I watched her walk to an empty corner of the room, lean her back against the wall, then slide down to sit with her knees tucked into her chest. She splayed out her wings on either side, and she stayed like that. I sat down and listen to them announce more and more passes, but none of our classmates showed up. Just as I thought that, Tsu, Momo, Jiro, and Shoji showed up. "Good, I'm glad to see you passed, Todoroki." Momo said, getting a bit too close for comfort. "I didn't doubt you." Tsu said, smiling. "Have you seen the others?" Jiro asked. "No, not yet. Not besides (Y/n) and I. She picked off one of the people I was fighting as her second, then she flew me over here. She's been like that since we got here." I said, nodding towards her, still completely still, hunched over with her wings splayed to the side. We continued to talk and greet our classmates as the arrived, and not once did (Y/n) even look up. She's hurting and I can't do anything to fix it. I've already done enough. Now is not a good time to think about this. We separated to make things better. This is fine.
