(Y/n's P.O.V)

I woke up before everyone in class, so I took a quick shower before getting ready. I pulled on my uniform , and while adjusting my skirt I glanced at my hand and arm. A wave of guilt washed over me and the sudden awareness of my scars's presence made them burn and itch. I pulled on my coat and grabbed my costume case and backpack, then dropped down from my balcony and banked towards the front door. I walked through and made myself a light breakfast, then sat at a table waiting for my classmates to show up. I heard the front door open, and Mr. Aizawa stepped in. I set down my fork and waved at him, and he nodded. "Glad to see at least one of you is fully prepared for the test. Mind if I grab a seat and wait with you?" I smiled weakly at him in response, then went back to my meal. Slowly the rest of my classmates trickled in, most yawning and stretching, only just waking up. I silently picked up my plate and walked to the kitchen, and scrubbed it clean. I sat on the couch until it was time to leave, and when we all got on the bus all of the girls tried to get me to sit with them, but instead I just took the empty seat next to Bakugo. I sat completely still and silent throughout the ride except for a few times when I had to pull Bakugo back into his seat and get him to stop screaming at everyone. When we arrived, Jiro mumbled sounding sick "Ugh... I'm getting kind of nervous." I placed my wing reassuringly on her back and smiled, and she smiled back at me halfheartedly. "I wonder what they're gonna make us do. Ugh. What if I can't get my license?" Mineta whined, and suddenly Aizawa just kinda collapsed into a right angle to be at eye level with him, and said "Mineta. Don't ask if you can. Say that you will." then stood up straight again while Mineta agreed. "If you can pass this test and get your provisional licenses, then you novice eggs will hatch into chicks. You'll be semi-pros. I expect your best." Aizawa said, and Kaminari laughed "All right! I can't wait to be a heroic chicken!" "Let's call out the usual, you guys!" Kirishima shouted, encouraging everyone with his energetic and supportive attitude.

"On my mark. Go Plus-" "Ultra!" a new voice joined in, and we turned to a kid who wasn't even from our school. "Y'know, it's pretty rude to barge into other people's huddles like that, Inasa." Another kid wearing the same uniform said, and in response this Inasa kid said "What? Pardon me." then very aggressively bowed, hitting his head on the concrete while shouting "I am so... very... extremely... sorry!" Midoriya yelped in surprise and fell backwards into me, so I held him upright while Kaminari said my exact thought about this kid "Who is this guy? I do not trust his enthusiasm." "S-sorry (Y/n)!" Midoriya said, stepping away from me. I just smiled and nodded, then listened to the talk about how the kids were from Shiketsu. Suddenly The Smile Hero: Ms. Joke showed up and started annoying Mr. Aizawa, and Midoriya ranted about her quirk. I honestly felt bad for Aizawa, he looked genuinely unhappy at her existence. "Also, my quirk is great at breaking tension before a test! Hey, you two over there! I think you could use a laugh before the test, you look sad." I heard Mr. Joke say, then Midoriya said "Wait, Ms. Joke, not them-!" and before he could say anything else both Todoroki and I doubled over in laughter, and my stomach started to hurt so bad my eyes watered. I really didn't feel happy, I hate this so much. I finally had too much and forced myself to speak for the first time in about 3 days. "S-stop it." I whimpered between laughs, and the class went still at this. "Um- Ms. Joke, you really don't wanna push her-" Kaminari commented, backing away. "Why? They look like they're having fun!" she said, and that was it. "I. Said. STOP!" I shrieked, feathers bristling like razors. She finally stopped out of surprise, and Shoto was about to fall over from not being able to breath for that long, so I softened the wing facing him and held him up, not caring about anything that had happened between us at this point. I just glared at Ms. Joke and coughed, trying to catch my breath."Well, thanks for angering one of my most volatile students and making one of the best almost pass out. If you're here, where's your class?" Aizawa sighed angrily, and another class came up to join us. Once I was sure Shoto could stand I folded my wings back tightly against my body. A kid introduced himself as Shindo, and he looked like an older Midoriya with black hair. He began praising us and taking the hands of different students, and when he grabbed mine I was about to get angry, but decided it wasn't worth it. If I weren't such a jackass I'd probably love a friend like him.

"And Bakugo, Takami. It must've been hard for you what with the whole kidnapping incident." he continued and I stepped to Bakugo's side and raised an eyebrow. "You guys have especially strong wills, don't you? Today I'm going to do my best to learn from you. I really hope you don't mind." Shindo continued holding out his hand only for Bakugo to smack it away. "Stop pretending. What you say doesn't match the look in your eyes." he retorted, turning away. Since I was shocked back into talking and didn't have a breakdown, I guess it's fine now. "Bakugo, come on, be nice." I murmured, and again my class was silent, except Kirishima, who agreed "Yeah, (Y/n)'s right! Don't be so rude! Sorry, he's just like that." "It's fine. It proves how tough his heart is." Shindo responded, smiling. I shook Shindo's hand in apology for Bakugo's behavior, but he was right. It wasn't a look of admiration or eagerness to learn. It was a motivation to win. "Hey, get your costumes on and head to the orientation. There's no time to waste." Aizawa pushed, and we all followed him into the building. Before we left, Kaminari and Jiro talked about how we're basically celebrities, and I realized our huge disadvantage. Everyone here knew our quirks and had seen them in action during the sports festival, but we knew nothing about theirs. "Wait, did you not warn the kids, Eraser?" I heard Ms. Joke ask in a concerned voice, and that just confirmed my thoughts.

Once we were in our costumes we were shoved into a crowded hall to listen to the speaker tell us about the test. A tired man stepped up and began speaking "Ugh. Ok then. Let's do this exam thing. I'm from, uh, the Heroes Public Safety Commission. Name's Mera. My Circadian Rhythm is so screwed up. Ah, man. I've been swamped lately and haven't gotten much rest. We're too short staffed. I'm so tired. With that confession, I'll now begin orientation." I felt bad for Mera, I understood that. I hope he gets some rest.

"So, about the content of this license thing. Basically, 1,540 examinees compete in a free-for-all exercise or whatever we're calling it this year. See, we've got a lot of pros around and since Stain was arrested, many people have expressed doubts about the status of heroes in society. But, when you really think about it, getting paid makes sense. If you're going to risk your life to save someone, why shouldn't you ask for a reward, huh? That's just the way the world works. God, I could use a coffee. Anyway, whether they're in it for compensation or out of a sense of duty, we've got too many heroes working together on the streets these days to keep villains at bay. Honestly, the time between when an incident begins and when it's resolved is ridiculously short. You are all here trying to receive your provisional licenses, so you'll be swept up in this tiresome mess yourselves pretty soon. Those of you who don't have the speed, frankly, just won't cut it. Which is why that's what you'll be tested on. The first 100 students to fulfill the requirements will pass today."

My classmates stressed around me, and I realized I have to be in the top 10% to pass today. I know my classmates are gonna want to stick together, but no way am I taking that chance. If they want to pass, they can do it themselves. "Well, the world can be pretty crappy. I suppose I should say something about luck. So, anyway, here are the basic rules." Mera went on to explain the sensors and balls and where we could put them to make it fair, and how we only needed to take out two people to pass this. I recieved the targets and balls, so I put the balls in my pockets and placed the targets in the dead center of my chest, underside of my left wing, and my right calf. Mera said something about opening, and all of the sudden the building around us unfolded to reveal the testing facility. It reminded me of what would happen if USJ was on steroids. He explained the obvious, chose a terrain that is easy for you. "This is so unnecessary..." Midorya muttered, and Mera said "Yes, I know it makes for a great reveal, doesn't it?" and then he started mumbling about his sleep deprivation again.

And with that, the test began.
