Mitsuki had been drawing since they'd picked up a pencil. They usually drew what was on their mind, and those ranged from disturbing to sad to disturbing again.
Unsettling things are drawn and with the introduction of a new school and a new town all by themself, things got pretty sad. (The horror they loved to watch didn't help.)
Then back to disturbing again as Mitsuki got better and better at drawing and sketching and they got more detailed and creative in turn from that.
Drawing and sketching and just art, in general, was an escape, and they didn't like people looking through their notebooks or seeing their art. It was kinda personal.
It wasn't always something angsty though. A lot of it was butterflies and still lives, some of them were pictures of Boruto. A lot of them were pictures of Boruto.
Boruto only really picked up the hobby when he got curious as to why Mitsuki (and Inojin) always had their nose in a notebook.
He wasn't as good at it, and he wasn't as into it. But it was still fun!
"Hey, Mitsuki!" Boruto quickly wrapped one arm around his boyfriend, smiling widely. Mitsuki looked up at him, giving a small smile and a "Hello"
"I had an idea! How about I draw you as the man on the moon and you can draw me sitting on the sun."
"Sounds fun."
