The next day and half pass painfully slowly for Akaashi and with every minute that passes, he finds himself looking more and more forward to his date. On the day of, he calls up his friend, Sugawara Koushi.
"Do you know what I should wear on a first date?" Akaashi asks sincerely.
"Oh, haha. I haven't been on a first date in such a long time," Suga says.
"You don't have to brag about the fact that you have been in a stable relationship for such a long time. Oh, speaking of, how's Daichi doing?"
"Good, we're good. Um, I would suggest that you just wear a nice shirt, maybe a bowtie, you look good in those! And you should wear your glasses, you look cute in those, why don't you wear them more often?" Suga suggests.
"They get in my way, but I guess I could make an exception for tonight. So a dress shirt and a bowtie? Would skinny jeans look good with that?" Akaashi looks the outfit he has picked out up and down.
"Yeah! Who's your date?"
"This guy named Bokuto who I think gave me a concussion when I first met him. We ran into each other on the sidewalk, literally. I then saw him at this coffee shop yesterday and he screamed a lot with his friend and then conned me into going on a date with him," Akaashi explains.
"Well, you obviously want to go a little bit, you are asking me for fashion advice. Me, of all people!" Sugawara laughs.
"Come on! You're one of my closest friends, who else am I supposed to ask?"
"Ok, ok. Well, I need to go. I hope your date goes well," Suga says.
"Thanks, bye."
"Bye."Akaashi gets into his clothes and then starts walking towards the coffee shop. The sun is just setting and the light casts a nice glow over the city. He reaches the coffee shop a bit early and sits outside on one of the tables watching the sun go below the horizon. Right at 6:00, Bokuto dashes out of the shop. He is wearing a white button up shirt with the top two buttons undone and a pair of blue jeans. Akaashi can tell that this guy is extremely fit and he smiles a little bit.
"Hi," Bokuto smiles widely at Akaashi. Just then, Kuroo jumps out the door with a camera.
"I have got to capture this moment!" he says excitedly.
"What the heck? Are you my mom or something?" Bokuto complains loudly.
"Just stay still and smile." Bokuto and Akaashi stand awkwardly next to each other and give Kuroo obviously fake smiles.
"Act like you like each other!" Kuroo walks up to them and moves them toward each other. He places Akaashi's arm around Bokuto's shoulders and Bokuto's arm around Akaashi's waist. "Now, relax," he says, seeing as the two are stiff as wood. They sigh and lean into each other, just wanting this photo to be over. Kuroo takes the picture and nods approvingly."Carry on." He waves his hand dismissively at them but then leans towards Bokuto's ear. "You scored a good one." He prances back into the coffee shop. Akaashi's face turns beet red. Bokuto sighs and turns to Akaashi.
"Sorry about that. I think he likes to pretend that him and Kenma are my parents."
"It's fine." Akaashi smiles at Bokuto. He actually likes to see how Bokuto acts around his friends.
"So, where are we going?"
"Well, there's this one take-out place that is really good, like really good, that I want to take you to, and then I was thinking we could go eat at the park? There is this really big, tall tree and you can sometimes hear the owls at night." Bokuto looks slightly flustered.
"That sounds amazing," Akaashi says.
