Daichi looks fondly at Sugawara. He glances down at their hands. Even though they have been dating for over a month, he still gets butterflies when Suga holds his hand.
"Daichi, I'm tired." Suga rests his head on Daichi's shoulder.
"I know. Me, too," he responds, resting his head on Suga's. At this point all Daichi really wanted was to go home and sleep, preferably with Suga in his bed to cuddle. Suga yawns.
"I love you, Daichi." Daichi is filled with warmth when he hears these words come from Suga's mouth.
"I love you, too, Koshi." Daichi closes his eyes, smiling a little bit. He holds Suga's hand a little tighter.
"What about Yamaguchi and Tsukishima? They are sitting awfully close together." Hinata points at them. Kageyama tilts his head in thought.
"I don't think Tsukishima has the capability to care about someone that much."
"Kageyama-kun! Tsukishima may be a turd, but he still has feelings. And he looks like he really cares about Yamaguchi." Hinata looks at the two other first years. Yamaguchi has his knees up to his chest and Tsukki's arm is around him. Tsukki's other hand rests on one of Yamaguchi's knees and his head is bent in towards Yamaguchi's. "I think they are dating," Hinata announces quietly.
"Yamaguchi, come on, look at me. It's going to be okay, I promise," Tsukishima looks at his friend with concern. Tadashi has always been afraid of thunderstorms, but it is worse when he isn't at home. At home, he has all of his comfort objects. Here, he has nothing.
"Tsukki..." Yamaguchi can't seem to finish what he was saying. Tsukishima suspects that he wasn't actually trying to say anything at all really. Tsukishima tightens his arm around Yamaguchi. He doesn't really know what to do besides try to assure Yamaguchi that everything will be all right.
"Relax, just relax. Everything is going to fine. We are going to get out of this soon, okay?" Tsukki squeezes Yamaguchi's knee. Yamaguchi just bites his lip. Daichi was right; he really is on the verge of crying. Tsukishima wonders what could have made him this afraid; did his house get struck by lightning?
"Hey, come on, look at me. Yamaguchi, look at me." Yamaguchi timidly turns to face Tsukki. Tsukki removes his hand from Yamaguchi's knee and places it on his cheek. Tsukishima looks Yamaguchi sternly in the eyes. "Tadashi, listen to me. Everything is going to be okay." Slowly, Tsukki lifts his head up and lightly kisses Yamaguchi on the forehead. He then pulls Yamaguchi into a hug so that Yamaguchi's face is pressed into Tsukishima's chest. "You can cry if you need to. I'm here."
After a few moments, Tsukki hears a heaving sigh come from Yamaguchi. Quiet sobs emanate from the smaller boy and Tsukki hugs him tighter.
"It's all going to be okay," he says quietly, resting his head on top of Yamaguchi's as Yamaguchi cries into his chest.
"See, I told you." Hinata shrugs at Kageyama. "Yamaguchi doesn't look like he is having a good time though," Hinata says in a concerned voice.
"Yeah, it must be tough," Kageyama says with sympathy in his voice.
"Now you know who should totally date? Those two." Hinata nods toward Tanaka and Ennoshita, not pointing anymore because Kageyama told him it was rude. Kageyama makes that 'sure, why not' face. "Right? They would be so cute."
"Maybe Ennoshita could mellow Tanaka out," Kageyama says flatly.
"Man, aren't thunderstorms cool?" Tanaka enthuses. Ennoshita sighs a little bit.
"Yes. Also, you have said that about five times now," Ennoshita says calmly.
"Sorry, but its true! The lightning is the best part." Personally, Ennoshita liked it better when there was just the simple patter of rain against a roof. He turned his head to look at Tanaka. Tanaka's eyes were closed and he was smiling.
They lie there for a few minutes in silence. Little did he know, Tanaka was staring at Ennoshita the entire time. Tanaka was trying to decide if he should say a certain thing to Ennoshita or not. After another moment or two, Tanaka propped his head up on his hand.
"Hey, Ennoshita."
"Yeah?" Ennoshita shifts over so he is looking up at Tanaka. Tanaka puts on a nervous smile.
"Um, will you volley-go out with me?" The moment Tanaka says it, he regrets it.
"That doesn't make any sense, you egg," Ennoshita says, trying to hold down the massive blush and the cry of joy he wants to let out.
"But will you?" Tanaka tries again.
"Of course, you egg." Ennoshita smiles and Tanaka collapses onto the court with a relieved sigh. He scoots a little closer to Ennoshita, and Ennoshita takes Tanaka's hand. Of course, both of them are smiling like complete idiots.
