(Virenika’s POV):

“Okay na ba yung venue? Completely decorated na ba?” -Dad

“Opo, sir.” –Party organizer

“Eh yung mga pagkain?”

“Nakahanda na po.”

“Make sure there are more chairs than the number of expected guests, okay?”

“Sure po sir. Everything’s gonna be perfect!”

“Okay then! You may go and assist them now. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome po.”

 

“Oh hija? Excited ka na ba sa party?” Papa approached me.

“Yes papa...” I smiled habang mini-make up’an ako ng make up artist ko.

“Good. You better be. Today is your legal day. Hehehe.” Hinalikan niya ulo ko and he started walking away. “Give her the most beautiful look.”

“Ayy sure po attorney!” Sagot ng taga-ayos ko.

I sighed...

All my life, hindi ko na inimagine yung moment na ‘to. Na magde-debut ako, na magcecelebrate ako ng 18th birthday ko... Ni hindi ko na inisip ‘to kasi akala ko hindi ko na ‘to maaabutan pa... I’m so thankful because I’m given the opportunity to experience this...

Thank you, sungit... If it wasn’t for your heart, I won’t be here now...

“Oh, Nikaaa! Ba’t umiiyak ka?? My ghooosshh!” Ate Ryen suddenly exclaimed as she went in. Pinunasan niya luha ko. “Cheer up! Masyado ka namang emotional. Hihi!”

“Sorry ate...” I smiled at her. Hindi ko namalayang umiiyak na pala ako eh. Inaayos na ng make up artist ko yung buhok ko.

“Tears of joy lang yan. Naku, you’re so prettyyyy!” Pumalakpak siya. “I’m sure this is gonna be one of the happiest night of your life!”

Sana nga...

But I doubt...

I may be happy... I may smile... I may laugh...

But I will never be complete...

My party’s theme is Masquerade. As expected, naka-maskara ang lahat. My guests are all wearing long gowns (for ladies) and suits (for gents). Ako naman, naka-white na naman akong ballgown tsaka may pearl akong necklace. Yung ballgown ko, may mga light pink and light blue na stones sa ibabang parte. Yung maskara ko kulay pink na may stones din na white. Ang cute nga eh...

The guests stood up and clapped their hands as I marched my way to the front, kung saan ako uupo. Ngumiti ako sa kanila. Hindi ko na ma-identify kung sinu-sino sila kasi naka-mask sila.
