The ride home from the restaurant was awkward & quiet the entire time. Serena has wondered if she did the right thing by telling Brian about her feelings for his brother. Brian was upset with Bennet & Serena. He had devoted so much of his time investing & caring over Serena & this is what she does. A part of him wanted to cry & a part of him wanted to punch Bennet. He walked Serena to her door, wished her a good night & drive home. He was no longer upset with Serena. How could he be angry with an angel? All his anger was fueled by his brother. It was all his fault. Why did he have to come into town? He barged into the apartment where Dylan & Bennet we're seated at the dining table just finishing up dinner. Both Dylan & Bennet greeted Brian. Brian completely ignored & went right up to Bennet to punch him in the face. Dylan was shocked & tried prying him off of Bennet. The three guys struggled & made a mess in the apartment from fumbling through air punches & shoves. Dylan managed to pull Brian away from Bennet. Bennet pushed his hair back & straightened up his shirt.
Dylan: Brian! What's gotten into you?!
Brian: Ask Bennet!
Dylan: Bennet?
Bennet: Is this about Serena?
Brian lunged towards Bennet & Dylan quickly pulled Brian back.
Bennet: It's about Serena.
Dylan: Brian, let's calm down. Let's talk about this.
Brian: Ok, fine. Fine. Let's talk. Why did you come here, Bennet?
Bennet: I told you. It's to be with family.
Brian: What about our family in Iowa?
Bennet: I moved here to be with you.
Brian: That's bullshit & you know it.
Bennet: Ok. You want the truth?
Dylan let go of Brian, but stayed close by in case Brian sprung on Bennet again.
Bennet: The truth is that I'm jealous of your success, Brian. You've got it all made. Car, apartment, job, school, a girl. And you know what? You deserve it all. Really, you do. And I'm sorry I came here out of the blue. I just thought that if you could make it out here that I could have the same things going for me if I moved out here too.
Brian: So basically you wanted a fresh start.
Bennet: Don't you think I deserve a chance... at the very least?
Brian: We all do.
Bennet: Ok, so I moved out here thinking I could start out new. I saw where you lived, where you worked, where you went to school. I met your girl. And I can't get her off my mind, Brian.
Dylan put his arm against Brian's body.
Dylan: Let him talk.
Bennet: Never in a million years did I think that a girl like Serena would talk to me, but she did. She talked to me. She understands me. No girl has ever made me feel the way Serena does. You know I'd never steal your girl, Brian. But she told me y'all weren't dating.
Brian: We're not dating. But you know how I feel about her.
Bennet: Does she know how you feel about her?
Brian: I've never told her.
Bennet: Ok. It's settled then. No name fair game, little brother. So don't come crying to me.
Bennet left & Brian hung his head. Dylan put his arm around Brian.
Dylan: Hey man, it's going to be fine.
Brian: Are you fine?
Dylan: Not yet, but I know that someday I will be.
Bennet headed straight for Serena's house. He had stopped by the store for flowers first. He pushed his hair back to look more presentable. He straightened up his leather jacket. And he held the bouquet of flowers behind his back. Serena ran to the door & he could see through the glass portion in the door that she was smiling ear to ear. She opened the door & greeted him.
Serena: Hey there, Bennet. Come in.
Bennet flung the flower from his back & handed then to Serena. Her smile widened a bit more as she grabbed Bennet by the hand & led him inside. She held the flowers up to her nose to smell them & Bennet pulled the door closed behind him.
