Chapter 23

Astrid POV

I get out the car with Chase, my heart pounding and every part of me shaking with nervousness.

Hiccup's house was big and it wasn't like mine. There are statues and fountains all over the place, and cars pakred around everywhere.

"I can do this" I mutter nervously. "ready to show everyone who Astrid Hofferson is?" Asks Chase. I nod, "let's go" I say as we walk up the steps the click of my heels echo through my head like a clock ticking inside of me.

As we open the door some people look at us as if we were strangers or people with no category.

Chase and me walk straight, showing no fear. showing nothing but the fake smiles on our faces as we pass by.

Merida with Hiccup beside her smirks at me, "I guess you've found someone to help take the pain away haven't you" she snaps.

"Nope, Chase is my best friend. he'll be here for me always" I say as he wraps one arm around my waist. "then what did you come here for?" She snaps. "to wish both of you a happy wedding" I say as I walk away with Chase leaving her there puzzled.

Hiccup POV

Astrid looked so beautiful and I wished it were her who I was going to marry not Merida.

Merida planned everything, she told me what to wear and what to say. I didn't like it, my mom told me to just try and reason with her but it isn't working.

"Merida stop" I say sternly, "I'll take care of the baby but I can't marry you" I say looking at her.

"Nope, this baby needs a daddy and your its daddy" she says smiling like a madwoman. "I'm going to get some fresh air this is too over whelming" I say walking outside to the garden.

Astrid POV

I see Chase texting every minute or so and I become curious. "who you texting" I say taking a sip of champagne, "no one specific" he says nervously."come on you can trust me" I say looking at him.

He sighs, "I'm talking to my girlfriend" he says shyly, "I didn't know you had a girlfriend" I say punching his arm.

"Ya but it's someone you know" he says as I confuse myself trying to find which person it could be.

"I really don't know" I say giving up, he finally speaks up, "its Heather" he says shyly. I smile and giggle. "that's adorable" I say smiling.

"I thought you'd think its weird for your friends to be dating" he says puzzled at my reaction.

"I think it's adorable" I say as Heather walks through that door and rushes over to hug Chase.

She sees me and clears her throat. "hi" she says shyly. "she already knows" says Chase.

"Oh that's a relief" says Heather. I just giggle and continue with the party.

Hiccup POV

As I walk outside someone taps my shoulder.

I turn around to find Merida's mother. "hello Hiccup" she says softly. "hello mrs. Dunbroch" I say kindly.

"I don't have much time I need to tell you something very important" she says looking around "what, what is it?" I ask curiously. she takes a deep breath and speaks.

"The baby in Merida's stomach isn't real"
