Chapter 49

~a few days Later~

Hiccup POV

I sit in the hospital waiting room, with Toothkess beside me. Toothless stares at my prosthetic leg sadly, "I'm okay bud" I say patting his head. he licks my hand.

"I'm okay" I say as I stand up, the leg squeaks, "come on" I say walking through a hallway of doors.

Nurses, doctors, people in beds or wheelchairs move past me.

Toothless stays beside me, we finally come to the room I want.

I open the door, toothless scurries in his tail wagging excitedly. I walk in closing the door shut behind me.

I look at Astrid still sleeping, "coke on Toothless" I say as he follows me, I grab a chair and sit beside Astrid.

"Please wake up" I whisper touching her cheek. "I need you a lot right now" I say softly, and I mean it.

All the court trials, nightmares, worrying about Astrid. I haven't been able to be myself lately.

It's quiet except for the beep of the monitor and me speaking. "please wake up, I should've been the one shot not you" I say as Toothless looks at me sadly.

"I need you more than anyone right now" I say as I take her hand in mine and put it against my cheek.

"I miss talking to you, holding you" I say looking at her. "please just wake up" I say as I lay my head down on the bed and cry.

Astrid POV

I open my eyes, my eyesight starts out blurry but then it adjusts to the light.

I look around, I see Toothless look at me and wag his tail and Hiccup his face buried in his arms crying. I reach over and reach over and touch his head stroking his hair gently.

He looks ul, his eyes puffy and red. "Astrid?" He says as he jumps up and hugs me. "Astrid" he says as I hug back. "I love you" I say as he looks at me. "I love you too" he says as I smile.

"What happened?" I say as my shoulder aches for a bit, "after you got shot, you brought you here. I kept waiting these past few days for you to wake up" he says as he takes my hand.

"This belongs to you" he says taking out the my engagement ring from his pocket and slipping it onto my finger. "thank you" I say as he sits beside me.

I hear a squeak, "what was that?" I ask as he chuckles a little, "this" he says as he pulls up his pant leg to reveal a prosthetic leg.

"Your leg" I begin before he speaks, "they couldn't save it they had to cut it off" he says as I lay my head n his shoulder.

"I'm sorry" I say as he lays his head on mine. "it's not your fault, but we both are very stubborn people aren't we" he says as I laugh. "we are" I say as he smiles. "And how are you?" Says Hiccup as he falls to my tummy, I giggle.

"I know you can hear me" he says as i laugh. "your so dorky" I say as he chuckles, "daddy is very dorky isn't he" I say as he chuckles and holds me.

"So what now?" I say as he smiles, "you get better and then we go home" he says as I look up at him and smile, "home is always going to be right here for me" I say as I hug him, he hugs back.

"I love you" he says as I look at him, "and we love you" I say as he smiles and kisses my nose.

~A week Later~

I had finally been well enough to leave, but I still would wobble a little when I walked.

I swing my legs over the bed side and try and stand, my legs wobble a bit but I stand.

"Good morning" says Hiccup from the door, "hi" I say as he walks over to me, "I have a surprise for you" he says as I smile, "what is it?" I ask as he chuckles, "I can't tell you" he says as I pout.

"Come on please" I say as he looks at me seriously then pokes my nose. "no" he says as I giggle.

"Let's go home" I say as he smiles and leads me out the door holding my hand.

"Hiccup we just passed my house where are you taking me?" I say as he smiles, "home, our home" he says as I smile.

"Your full of surprises Haddock" I say as he chuckles, "that's mr. Haddock" he says as I roll my eyes giggling.

We stop at an apartment building, he stops the car and gets out. I follow.

"First close your eyes I'll guide you" he says as I sigh and close my eyes. he wraps his arms around my waist guiding me somewhere.

"Almost there" says Hiccup as I hear a door open. he gently pushes me inside, he let's go of me as I hear him close the door.

"Okay open your eyes" he says as I open them. I gasp and smile.

The small apartment decorated with chairs, sofas, kitchen untensils, etc.

"This is ours?" I say as he smiles, "yup and the little one on the way too" he says as I smile and hug him.

"It's beautiful, I love it" I say as he smiles, "and the best part is we have everything we'll ever need besides the baby stuff and the baby" he says touching my stomach. i giggle and look at him.

"I love you" I say as he smiles. "and I love you" he says as I giggle and kiss his cheek.

"Also we have to put a date on the wedding?" He says looking at me, "we do" I say as he smiles. "how about in 2 weeks" I say as he nods. "then in two weeks we get married" he says as I jump up happily and hug him.

"This is our home forever" I say as he smiles, "forever" he says as he hugs me.
