Chapter 22

~3 days later~

Hiccup POV

I had gotten out of the hospital 2 days ago, the next day Merida had already started the plans for the wedding.

I had to buy a ring, I found one with Astrid's favorite color and the meaning of her name engraved on it.

I found another ring, it was original I bought Merida the one that wasn't very special and the one with The meaning of Astrid's name engraved on it for Astrid.

If I can convince Merida to not marry me I can marry Astrid instead, and spend the rest of our lives together.

I put Astrid's ring in a special box and put Merida's ring in my pocket.

Astrid POV

I lay down on my bed, last nights dinner left untouched.

"Honey" says my mom entering my room.

"Mom please go I wanna be alone" I say as more tears spill, "Honey no one wants to be alone" she says touching my shoulder. "I deserve to be alone" I say hugging a pillow.

"Honey it's okay" she says as I cry, "I'm losing him to her, I won't be able to ever feel his arms around me, ever get to kiss him, I won't ever be the mother of his children" I say as I cry harder.

"Honey, he'll find a way just like your father and I did" she says as I turn to look at her.

"When I was young I met a boy, he'd say the sweetest things and do the sweetest things. and I gave myself to him, I ended up being pregnant with you" says my mother smiling.

"He never wanted you, he said you weren't his and that he'd rather you die than be your father" she says continuing. "I was alone, my mother and father died two weeks before. I met your father and told him everything. he offered to take care of you and me and treat you as his child. along with Eret who was his son" she says a small smile escaping her lips.

"And as you grew inside me, I fell in love with you, and each day I fell in love with your father. And when you were born and I first held you in my arms it was amazing. you were so small and when you looked at me I never wanted you to let go" she says as a tear falls down her cheek.

"I love you mom" I say hugging her. "But now your going to get all dressed up and show Merida your not afraid and your not going to let her win" she says trying to cheer me up.

"But how?" I ask, "I thought you might need some help" says Chase from the door. "Chase" I say running over to hug him.

"Even if you can't love me I'm still gonna help you" he says hugging back.

My mother had done all my make up, and Heather who had been listening behind the door did my hair.

And it felt as if it was the day I was going on a date with Hiccup. The dress he had made for me, perfectly fit me.

"Give us a little turn" says my mom, I just giggle and spin. "you look gorgeous, everyone will know that nothing can bring you down" she says holding my chin up to look at her.

"I'm proud of you, and I'll love you no matter what" she says kissing my forehead. "I love you top" I say as I hug her. the curls in my hair seem like swirls around me.

"We'll off to the party" she says putting a small tiara in my hair.

"Now go show them who Astrid Hofferson is" she says encouragingly. I look in the mirror, the dress is as soft as silk, the slit near my left leg and one strap over my left shoulder. along with the wavy curls in my hair it looks magical.

I walk out finding Chase all dressed up, I see it didn't take you long to get ready" I say walking down the stairs. "no it's just easier for men" he teases.

"Ready to go" he says as I take a deep breath. "can't head back now, let's do this" I say taking his hand.
