PARK DAY

THE NEXT DAY
Aimees POV
I was just at work. It was about 1:30 in the afternoon. The kids were all sleeping and I was just at my desk working. Shawn dropped me off today and he's picking me and Adalynn up and he might go to the park before it starts raining. She's obviously not going to be playing on the playground. We just like to get out and go for a walk and stuff.

I looked up at Jill to see her walking over to my desk. "What's up?" I asked, stopping what I was doing. "Adalynn's asleep. I know you're leaving around 1:45 so do you want me to change her or just put her in her car seat?" She asked and I thought about it.

"Please change her. She might not wake up. If she does she doesn't usually cry so she won't wake up any of the other kids" I say and she nods walking away.

I smiled shutting my computer down. I looked by the door to see Shawn walking in. He smiled signing Adalynn out. He looks at me and I waved him to come over.

"Hey" I smiled and he sits down. "How was your day?" I asked, leaning back in my chair. "Pretty good. I did some grocery shopping, cleaned the apartment and that's pretty much all" he answered and I nod. He had off of work. Adalynn could've stayed home but we decided to sent her in anyways so he could get some stuff done.

I smiled looking over at Jill who was carrying Adalynn in the car seat. "She was just changed so she should be good. Her crib sheets and everything are in her bag" Jill smiled and I nod saying a thank you as she walked back to her room.

"I'm gonna go put Adalynn in the car. You could just meet us out there" Shawn says standing up grabbing the diaper bag and I nod. He picks the car seat up and walking out. I smiled slipping my phone into my back pocket. I grabbed the clipboard and the daycare phone.

I walked into the young toddler room where Alexa was. I smiled handing Alexa the clipboard and the phone. "I'm heading out now. If you need anything just text me!" I say and she smiled.

"Have a good weekend" she says as I walked out of the room. I peaked into Christines office to see her working on something on her laptop. "I'm heading out!" I say and she nods smiling.

I walked out of the office and walked outside into the fresh hair. It was nice. It wasn't too hot but it wasn't too cold. It was perfect which is why I love Florida.

I smiled getting into the car. "We're still going to your parents house tomorrow right?" He asked and I nod. "As far as I know, yeah" I answered and he nods.

He pulls into the parking lot at the park and gets out. While he sets up the stroller I get out and grabbed the diaper bag. He grabs the car seat and places it on the stroller. "Ready?" He asked, closing the trunk and I smiled nodding.

We walked around the park just talking and enjoying the fresh hair. As we walked passed a group of boys playing football the ball went flying into the woods. "I'll get it" I smiled running into the woods. I bend down and picked the ball up. "Damn look at that ass" one of the boys says and I looked at him.

"If I were you I'd watch your mouth" I say throwing them the ball. I looked at Shawn to see him not even paying attention. He was playing with Adalynn. I smiled about to walk out. Before I walked out of the woods I noticed a little boy sitting by a tree crying and shaking. His face was buried in his knees so I didn't get to see his face. I wanted to say he was about 3.

"Hey" I say in a soothing tone kneeling next to him. He just continued crying and shaking badly. His clothes were filthy. "Hey. Are you okay?" I say gently grabbing his hand and he jump back terrified. He slowly looked up and my eyes widened. He had bruises and burned marks all over his body.

Looking at him just made me wanna cry. He had horror in his eyes. He looked at me and just hugged me tightly. "Hey what happened?" I asked, pulling away. He was about 3 so I didn't expect a lot from him.

"My mommy left me" he simply said. "And what's all over your body" I asked and he looked at his arms and legs as well. It was just on his face. It was all over the place.

"My mommy and her boyfriend would hit me, cut me, and burn me with their cigarettes or their lighter" he answered and my eyes widened.

"Come here" I say standing up and holding my hand for him to take. He slowly shakes his head obviously scared. He looks like he hasn't slept as well.

"What's your name?" I asked, kneeling back down. "Sebastian" he answered and I smiled. I've always loved that name for some reason. "Listen Sebastian, I will not let anyone hurt you again. You're safe now" I say, and he nods. I stand back up and and he slowly grabs my hand.

I smiled walking out. "You see that guy standing over there?" I asked pointing to Shawn and he nods. "That's my fiancé. He's playing with my daughter right now. He's a really sweet guy so you don't have to be afraid of him" I say and he nods.

"It's about time" Shawn laughed looking at me. He then realized the little boy next to me. "Who's this" Shawn says, with wide eyes looking at all his marks.

"This is Sebastian. I just found him in the woods. His mom left him and he was getting abused by his mom and her boyfriend" I told him. "We have to take him to the hospital. He needs to get checked out" Shawn says and I nod.

2 HOURS LATER
It's been about 2 hours since we found Sebastian. We were just in the waiting room waiting for the doctor to come back with Sebastian. The cops were here too. I explained to them what Sebastian told me.

They've been trying to talk to Sebastian too. They were really sweet to him so he kinda opened up to them. The doctor came back and Sebastian ran up to me. Adalynn was just napping in her car seat.

I picked him up onto my lap and he lays his head on my shoulder. The doctor walks up to us and I stand up. "So everything seems fine. He's 3 years old. He's starving because he hasn't ate in days nor slept in days. The burns and bruises should start going away. Just use this cream to help sooth the pain" the doctor says and I nod.

"So we're going to be investigating this case and we're gonna try to get the people who did this to him. They will not get away with this!" The cop added and me and Shawn nodded.

"For now we'll take Sebastian and find a safe place for him" the added. He tried grabbing Sebastian but he didn't want to go. He cried and held onto me. "NOOO" he yelled, grabbing tighter.

"We could take him" I say and the cop looked at me. "Are you sure?" He asked and I nod. "Yes. He's already comfortable with us and he will be safe" I say and Shawn nods agreeing. I smiled and the cop nods. "Here's my card if you need anything. I'll call you when I find something out" he says handing me his card and I nod. After we left the hospital we just went back home and just relaxed and got Sebastian situated.
