WE HAVE TO CLOSE

Aimees POV
Today's Monday. It was just around 12 in the afternoon. I was just at work doing some stuff on the computer. "AIMEE" I heard someone yell. I get up to see Jill waving to me. I walked into the baby room to see Marissa was just changing Adalynn.

"What's up?" I asked and she walked over to Adalynn. "We just noticed Adalynn got a bad diaper rash" she says and I looked and my eyes widened. "Okay uhh. Just put some diaper cream on it" I sighed. "If it gets worse please let me know" I say and they nod.

"We just wanted to let you know" Marissa says and I nod. "Thank you" I smiled walking out. "Aimee, can I see you in my office" Christine says and I nod. "Sure. Give me a sec" I say walking to my desk. I grabbed my phone and put it in my back pocket. I grabbed the daycare phone and walked over to the office. "Dang. It's only my second week and I'm already in trouble" I laughed shutting the door and sat down.

"Yeah. You're in so much trouble" she laughed and I smiled. "On a serious note how was the school age today?" She asked and I shrugged. "They were alright. I mean they were kinda obnoxious but that's typical. They're excited they have off of school for a couple weeks but other than that they were good. However, it was stressful to move the staff around and making sure they were in ratio and everything" I admitted and she chuckled.

"Yeah but that's expected" she laughed and I nod. "The reason I pulled you in here is because we have to close for the next two weeks. The government is mandating all child care centers to be closed for the next two weeks" she says and my eyes widened.

"So what's going to happen? How are we going to get paid?" I asked and Christine asked. "I have no idea. We're going to have to have them apply for unemployment" she said and she sounded like she was going to get ready to cry.

"Hey. Are you okay?" I asked and she looked at me shaking her head. "I feel terrible. I'm going to disappoint everyone" she says, covering her face into her hands. I get up and walked around the desk and kneeled down grabbing her hands. "Look at me" I say.

She looks at me wiping her tears. "This is not your fault. They will understand that. This is what the government is mandating us to do. We don't have a choice unless we want to get into major trouble" I say and she nods.

"I promise you they will understand" I say and she smiled nodding. I stand up and walked back around the desk and sat down. "I'm gonna write a letter to sent home for both the staff and families and I'm going to write steps on how to apply for the unemployment" Christine says and I nod. "If you want you could tell Jill or Marissa everything and have them spread the word. I'm going to let Alexa know so she could let the families know" she says and I nod.

"Are you okay?" I asked and she nods. "On your way out please shut the door" she says and I looked at her slowly nodding as I stood up. I grabbed the daycare phone and opened the door. "If you need anything please don't hesitant to call me in" I say and she smiles. "Can you ask Alexa to come in please" She asked and I nod.

I walked out of the office and went to the room next to the office. "Alexa" I say leaning over the gate and she looked at me. "Are you in ratio?" I asked looking at her and Ms. Lydia. Alexa nods and I smiled. "Christine needs to talk to you" I say and she nods getting up.

"Are you going to be okay?" I asked Lydia and she nods. "Okay. If you need anything don't hesitant to yell my name" I smiled. I take a deep breath and walked into the baby room to see them feeding lunch and I smiled. My daughter was just playing on the play mat.

"What's up?" Jill says and I walked into the room. "So me and Christine just talked. Rather government is mandating all child care centers to be shut down completely" I say and hers and Marissa's eyes widened. "So we're closing down?" Marissa asked and I nod.

"For how long?" Jill says and I shrugged. "We don't know yet" I answered and she nods. "So how are we gonna get paid?" She asked. "Christine will be printing out instructions on how to apply for unemployment" I say and they both nod. "Can you or Marissa just spread the word to the other staff. Alexa will be talking with the parents" I say and she nods. "Of course" she says and I smiled walking out.

I walked back to the desk and sighed going on my computer again. I rub my head because I had a major headache. My phone goes off and I looked to see it was Shawn.

"Hey" I answered smiling. "Hey baby" he say. "How's work?" He asked and I continued to rub my head. "It's okay. What's up? How's Sebastian?" I asked.

"Good as always. We just watched a movie" he says and I smiled. "He was asking me if we could go to McDonald's for lunch so I thought I'd ask if you wanted anything and we could come visit" Shawn says and I smiled. "I could use the visit" I laughed. "I'll have a cheeseburger and a medium coke" I say and he said okay and hung up.

They came for a visit and then left shortly after. I left work around 2 and just went back home and relaxed for the rest of the day.
