Ciara's P.O.V.

          "What?" Kaelynn asked me.

I froze. Why the heck did I just say that? Was I ready to let her know she's my daughter. No. No, I'm not. She already hates me, and she'll hate me even more. I'll never gain her trust, and she'll probably do something drastic. Like runaway. I can't let that happen! I'll be a terrible mother!

  "Ciara?"

I ran a hand through my hair. She's never called me by my name before. I would always be referred as "hey" by her. Maybe it's a sign that she's starting to trust me?

  "Yes?" I said, quietly.

"Are you going to tell me?" She asked.

I felt the bed move, and I knew Kaelynn was facing me. Normally, I would make every effort for us to lock eye contact, and we do rarely, but know I wanted to hide away from her.

  "Ciara? What is it?"

Is she caring about me? Or is it a general question because she's curious?

"Ummm...I j-just wanted to say...I really care about you."

Kaelynn sighed, and I felt more movement behind me. Then, I turned my head to see that she was now sitting beside me. I couldn't read the expression on her face, which scared me. Was she mad? Sad? What?

"I may not have known you for long, but I know you're lying. It's kind've obvious."

Yeah, I was never good at fooling somebody. They can read me like a book. Even if I don't know them all that well.

I stayed silent. She didn't say anything else, and the whole room was draped in an uncomfortable silence. I wanted so bad to tell her that I'm her mother, but I kept my mouth shut. I have to tell her and Charlize sooner or later. I just don't know when.

  "Where's my sister?" She asked.

"She watching tv with Tyson and Georgia. She's fine."

Georgia and Tyson are my two miniature dogs. Georgia's a brown poodle, while Tyson's a Yorkshire Terrior. Yeah, they're cute, and I've had them for a long time. They've kind've kept me sane while Kaelynn and Charlize were oblivious to the fact that their birth mother wasn't dead.

"What time is it?" She asked.

"Mmm, about seven. It's almost time for dinner, and you start school tomorrow."

Kaelynn visibly tensed when I said that. "Oh, yeah. I almost forgot."

A few more minutes passed before I stood up. "Well, dinner should be ready. So, you can come down now, if you like."

She shook her head. "I'll be up here."

  Yep. She still hates me.

"Okay, Charlize. Here we are. At your new school, Franciston Middle School," I said as we pulled up to the school, which was huge. (A/N: Totally made up.)

Charlize cowered in the backseat. I knew she was scared. "Can you come in with me?" She asked.

I nodded, and went to find a park. It was a little difficult because all these parents were dropping their kids off in the most random places. Like, there's a Drop-off Zone a few feet ahead! Finally, I was parked, and Charlize and I got out. Kaelynn stayed in the car.

Charlize's hand was clasped tightly in mine, which made my heart swell. A small smile fought its way onto my face. We walked down numerous halls to find Charlize's homeroom. Yeah, we were completely lost, but I didn't want to show it. I wanted her to put complete trust in me. Which she did.
