Ciara's P.O.V.

"There! All done!" I exclaimed proudly as Charlize and I looked at her yellow walls we've painted. The two of us had paint on our faces, arms, and clothes. I wore some comfy clothes that could get messed up, and Charlize had on a beige outfit she got from the adoption center.

"It looks awesome!" Charlize grinned, making me smile. She was such an upbeat little girl who's just full of fun and energy. I was proud to call her my daughter.

"What are we going to do next?" She asked, throwing her paint brush into the empty can of paint.

"Uhhh, first let the paint dry. As soon as it dries, we can clean this mess up and start decorating your room!"

  "YES!"

I laughed as Charlize ran out the room, and I followed her, closing the door. Next, I was going to help Kaelynn paint her room. Boy, this was going to be awkward. Especially when Charlize and I had a talk about her yesterday. What can I do to make her like me?

"Hey, Kaelynn!" I said once I walked into her room. She was wearing a beige outfit like her sister, and her hair was in a bun. She turned around to look at me.

"Hi," she simply said before turning back around.

"You ready to paint?" I asked, kneeling down beside her to look at the cans of paint.

  "I guess."

I was about to paint a wall before Kaelynn stopped me. "No, wait! I've planned out what I wanted my room to look like."

I lowered my brush and focused my attention on her. Kaelynn went to the place in her room where the bed was supposed to be and pointed at the wall. "I want that wall to be orange, and the outer part to be black."

I had to admit, I was a little sad that she planned all of this without me, but I didn't say anything and followed her orders. We painted the room the way she wanted it, which took about an hour and a half. The two of us was quiet, which was awkward. I wanted to desperately say something to start a conversation, but nothing came to mind. Besides, Kaelynn wouldn't even try to keep it going. She would just say one-word answers.

After the room was painted, we both left, Kaelynn before me. I sighed and went to the bathroom to wash my hands before making lunch. I made sure that I got lactose-free things for Charlize to eat.

"Y'all painted Kaelynn's room?" Charlize asked when I entered the kitchen.

"Yes, we did. And it looks great!" I said with a smile.

Kaelynn was at the table, looking down. Charlize stood at the doorway, as if waiting for me.

"How does it look?" She asked, following me.

"You'll see once we're finished," I smirked, standing in front of the stove.

"I can't wait to see my room once we're done with it! Do you know how you want it to look?"

  "Nope. It's your room."

"Okay. We can do it together!"

A smile crept onto my face again, even bigger than before. She actually wanted to plan out her room with me!

I turned around to face the girls. "So, what do you girls want for breakfast today?"

"Ooh! Can we have waffles? I looove waffles! I haven't had any in forever! Please, Ciara?"

I laughed at Charlize's excitement. She's always excited. And I loved it. I started to make the waffles, when she interrupted me with a question.
