"Alright everyone, that's it for class, there's only one week left before your final exams begin, I'm sure all of you are studying constantly right? Don't forget to train either, the written exam is only one portion of it, there's also the practicals to worry about, good luck," Our teacher said, right before walking out the door. Some of your classmates, like Kaminari, who forgot to even take notes, were freaking out. You, however, were at the top of the class so you had nothing to worry about.
No, you weren't at the very top, but you did not need to worry. You ranked third in the midterms, right behind Iida, and ahead of Katsuki. Some of the kids who needed help asked Momo for help. Her face lit up, it was sweet, you, however, were doing the exact opposite.
"Hey Katsuki, how does it feel to be a place behind me, you couldn't even make it into the top three, So close, yet so far," You taunted, saying the last part dramatically. He looked like he was vibrating with anger, but said nothing.
You eventually gave up trying to piss him off and stayed silent. "Maybe I should be studying with her, and not you two," Kirishima said while scratching the back of his neck, "You think I don't know enough? Maybe I should try beating the lessons into the back of your skull," Katsuki growled. "Oh Kirishima, don't mind him, he's just jealous that I'm way smarter than him," I said, emphasizing the 'way'.
Kirishima just sighed and sat back down in his seat. The three of us planned on studying for the exam together, and I was pumped.
Lunch arrived and I sat with the same people as normal. For almost the whole lunch, I teased Katsuki, by the end of it he'd already tried to strangle me, twice. The only reason I was safe was because of Kirishima, who was placed between us so we didn't kill each other.
You may be wondering why these exams were so important. Well, It's because if we do manage to pass, we'd be able to go to a summer training camp. A training camp may not sound all that exciting, but to the hero course, it was considered to be the highlight of their summer.
Once we got back to class, some of the other students were talking about how it was going to be robots. "It shouldn't matter if it's robots or actual people, why are you morons so excited," Katsuki said, "Hey, who are you calling a moron?" Kaminari asked, "Shut up, you're gonna need to learn how to control your quirk, you got it," Katsuki yelled, "He's right, you know?" you said to the two.
"Hey, Deku," Katsuki hissed, we all froze and looked at the two. "I don't know what's going on with your power, but I saw the way that you're using it now and I want you to know, it's seriously pissing me off," Katsuki said, clearly angry. you couldn't tell if he was angry with my taunting, or it was just his regular attitude talking.
"I won't have another half-assed win, we'll be getting individual scores in the upcoming exam, new rankings, so we'll all know exactly where we're standing, I'll show you how much better I am, and Todoroki, I'll kill you too," he said while walking out of the room.
"Sorry about him guys, I'm not sure my teasing helped his mood," you said while scratching my neck. They all said it was fine, so you walked out of class and followed him. "Hey, Katsuki, You better keep your anger down, or your gonna lose some brain cells and then I'd really be ahead of you," You yelled while chasing him down. "Shut the hell up!" he screamed, "I'm just joking, sorry for pissing you off today," You said while laughing, he stayed silent and the two of you walked together.
Little did you know, Aizawa was right around the corner, "Bakugou, your getting worse than I thought," he muttered.
Time skip to studying.
The three of you found yourselves in a cafe. You were studying diligently with ease, while Katsuki took a roll of paper and started to mercilessly beat Kirishima with it.
Every single day, you would study, and train, constantly, not giving yourself a single second to rest. Although you were currently in the top three in the class, what Katsuki said had you thinking. You couldn't just sit there at number three, even if you stayed there, you still had to work, ensuring your spot.
You trained your mind and body, day after day, getting frustrated, but working through it, until it was finally the first day of written exams.
Day one was easy, so was day two, and day three, the final day, but when it came time for you to turn in your tests, you didn't feel so sure. "The last person in each row, bing the answer sheets to me," Your teacher spoke. When Momo tried to collect your sheet, you almost didn't want to let go. You'd always had anxiety about testing, but this anxiety was on a whole new level.
Just like that, the written exams were over, and it was time for the practicals.
"now then, let's begin the last test, remember, it's possible to fail this final if you want to go camping, then don't make any stupid mistakes," Aizawa said to us. You were all in our hero suits, facing your teachers, ready for the exam.
Since you'd be doing two on one fights, one of us would be alone. Of course, you were the odd one out. you would be fighting a teacher alone, they would just have twice as many restraints.
The main goal of this year's exams was to focus on teamwork, something that you would not get to prove. The teachers chose you to be the odd one out because apparently, you displayed an excellent amount of teamwork in just about everything, so they would just grade more harshly on the combat portion instead of making someone fight twice.
When Mr. Aizawa announced the pairs, you were surprised to hear Katsuki was with Midoryia. It made sense though, considering they definitely needed to work on their relationship.
You would be going to be last, and fighting against Present Mic. This would most likely be the most challenging opponent for you, other than Aizawa, so you would have to work on skill.
The fights all went well, some failed, and some won, but it was time for Katsuki's, you wished him luck, and he was off. The fight didn't last long, and they ended up winning, but even though we couldn't hear them, something was going on. Katsuki seemed different, there was just something in his eyes, realization maybe? you couldn't put my finger on it.
It was finally your turn, and you were ready.
"Why is (y/n) fighting Present Mic? wouldn't Mr. Aizawa be the most difficult?" Midoryia questioned, "No, (l/n) fights by blocking the other opponent's attacks and then striking back, but you can't block out sound the way you do a physical attack, so this would be one of the hardest teachers for her to fight," Recovery girl replied to him.
You stood on the other side of the area, and the timer started. As fast as you could you ran forward, planning on not wasting any time. A scream was heard making you cover your ears to avoid the sound, not like it worked. You didn't slow down though, you wouldn't.
Although you couldn't tell, your classmates were rooting for you the whole time, even Katsuki, even though he didn't openly show it. As you ran forward, the screams got louder and louder, you were only halfway when your ears started to bleed. The trees around you suddenly died as you sucked the water from them, shooting it ahead hoping to hit your teacher.
He stopped for a bit and you used this time to sprint forward. Every time a scream came, you would pelt fire, air, water, or rocks at him, using it to stall. It seemed Like your teacher didn't realize your method until it became too late.
As you emerged from the trees, your teacher began to scream, almost making you pass out. He stopped as he saw almost the entire tree line rise from the ground. It wasn't a lot, but you sent it at him full force, completely burying him while using a blast of air to boost you forward.
Your teacher used another loud scream to unbury himself, but It was too late, you were already across the finish line. It didn't seem hard to anyone watching, but It definitely was.
You fell to your knees, panting. You did it, you were going to the training camp.
