Chapter 1: From Here to There

"Grandpa Otto, are you sure bringing him to the academy is a good idea?" A small girl in a habit asked while crossing her arms. It was dark, with the only available light that partially illuminated the room was nothing more than the light of the moon from the window. The girl stood in front of the same man that brought in the person behind the broken locked door, albeit he was somewhat blue all over with several other areas filled with black lines, indicating that it was a hologram.

"Don't worry about it, Theresa. He grew to be a good person based on Sofia's reports. He has a few eccentrics, but that's what growing boys tend to have, don't they?" Otto remarked.

"That's not my main concern, Grandpa. You know of that one boy, don't you?" Theresa reminded, a look of concern on her face. She knew that the boy that her grandfather send might be different than 'him', but she didn't want the boy to suffer the treatment he was bound to get if he was sent to St. Freya Academy.

"You don't have to remind me of 'him'." The way he spoke was calm, but there a tint of sting in his sentence that can be noticed by the sharp eared.

"But this boy is different from him. He was already trained by Sofia, an B-Rank Valkyrie. He is well disciplined, well trained, but he lacks the education truly needed to be able to become a full fledged Valkyrie," he continued.

"And that's where I come in," Theresa sighed out.

"Exactly! With him being in your academy, he will be taught all sorts of things he didn't know much about, and that would be a big help," Otto said out happily, a sincere smile appearing on his face. A rare sight to behold.

"I'm just worried what the girls here would do to him because he's a male," Theresa told Otto.

"He'll most likely ignore it. Don't fret over the small details. Soon, it will all blow over and the story of 'him' will be forgotten in time."

'I'm not sure if it would, Grandpa,' Theresa thought, before she sighed.

"Okay, Grandpa. When is he coming?" She asked.

"He'll be there by two days, likely in the morning at the port," he replied, before letting out a request.

"Oh, and if you can, do greet him personally. He is very interested in wanting to know you, being my cute granddaughter and all."

The moment she heard 'cute', she squealed like a child, and almost immediately, the decision was made.

"Okay then! I will, Grandpa Otto!"

"Good. Now, I have work to do. See you some time, Theresa."

Meanwhile, in some European country

"Hey, Max?" A woman called out in the living room, evident said woman sitting in front of a TV. She had somewhat pale skin, dark blue eyes and long, dark yellow hair which reached her knees that sprawled out at the end. She wore what seemed to be a general's outfit, as on her head was a light green beret, a black vest over a green shirt with rolled up sleeves, a pair of also green trousers and brown leather boots. She is flat chested, but that's not the point.

A boy in the ripe age of 17 walked out of the kitchen, wearing a dark blue apron with the words, 'Cooking Club Extraordinaire' beneath a pot with its contents releasing steam. The boy had messy blonde hair and dark blue eyes, with somewhat pale skin as well. His hands were concealed by the mittens he wore. If not for the fact that he was adopted by her, he would've been what a son of hers would look like anyway. The boy held onto a ladle, while also having a curious look on his face.

"C'mere. I want to talk to you for one last time before you go," she said out. Hearing that, the boy reacted by going back to the kitchen. A small 'click' was heard, as the boy twisted the knob of the stove that heated up whatever it was in the small pot on the stove, before the boy set the ladle down on the kitchen counter and walked towards the living room nearby. Seeing his surrogate mother in the living room, he went and sat at the opposite of her, before he began to use sign language.
