A couple of weeks had passed, with Halloween already celebrated by the whole school. So far, it had been more or less a month of him in the academy, and he had grown accustomed to not just the school, but also some of its students, teachers, but importantly, Soukai City itself.

Letting a small smile escape his lips as he sat down on the railing of the bridge that connected St. Freya and the city, he enjoyed the soft breeze blowing at his side, seemingly letting out a sigh.

"Heya, Max!" Kiana's bubbly voice said out, before sitting beside the quiet boy. The boy let out a grin to her, and Kiana replied back with her own, before Mei and Bronya came into view behind Kiana, with Mei leaning towards the railing while Bronya was sitting on the palm of Project Bunny 19C right above the railing, as if she wanted to be at least the same height as the other two, or specifically, Max. The boy was somewhat taller than his teammates, with the closest comparison being his teacher and squad leader, Himeko.

Yes, I think I've pointed it out in the earlier chapters, but since I have a feeling that no one reads back, this is a reminder.

"So you've been here for a month now. How does it feel?" Mei asked the boy. The boy was finally happy that he got to use sign language as his means to communicate, and since he had been taught how to use the Japanese style sign language, he used it to provide his reply to her.

'It honestly feels great. We went off to a rocky start, but things got better, didn't it?' The boy responded.

"The Bronya enjoys your company, Max," Bronya chimed in, and the boy smiled at her direction, followed by a thumbs up. After the shenanigans they pulled off in Halloween, the two had grown even closer than before, truly akin to a brother-sister relationship.

'Although. . . I do miss Karna,' the boy stated. He still remembered the sad smile of the brunette as he looked at him with nearly dead eyes before he vanished, reminiscent of that one giant alien guy snapping his fingers schtick.

You know who that is, and don't bother mentioning who it is.

"You barely knew him though," Kiana innocently brought up, causing the boy to pout at her in response.

'Which is why I missed him. I wish I knew him in more detail before he died at least. At least Mei told me about his time in the academy, but does he ever elaborate on his past?'

"He hadn't."

'. . . I see.'

"Squad V, you're called in by the principal," Fu Hua's voice was heard behind them. They all turned to look at their senior before nodding.

. . . .

"I'm giving you an extermination mission," Theresa declared to the five of them.

"Oh. Where's the location?" Mei asked.

"Germany," Theresa stated, having a small smile on her face, while the boy's face brightened so much, that it gave the sunlight that shone down upon the office a run for its money. His squad mates soon knew what his expression meant.

But Mei can't help but ask for confirmation.

"Is that where you live, Max?"

The boy nodded vigorously, his smile turning into a grin.

"Cool! We get to know more about you now!" Kiana exclaimed happily.

"The Bronya is pleased."

"Oh, and you will have three other people to be a temporary team mates, if you don't mind," Theresa abruptly added, silencing the room for about a good five seconds.
