The boy slowly grabbed the sword with his left hand. What took him off guard was that the pain wasn't there anymore. He was a little curious as to why this was the case, but had a thought.
'Maybe it's because it has a limiter of some sort?' He thought, examining the sword. He then noticed the back part of the blade that supported the sword had a thin line filled with something white. He noticed this due to the fact that earlier it was gray, but now it was an obvious white. It didn't glow, but it was glaringly obvious to see. He was curious as to what it was, but felt like it was best to use it as a last resort.
But he was curious.
But it was risky.
But he wanted to do it.
But it might have dangerous consequences.
But it might not hurt.
But--
You get the idea at this point now, don't you?
At the very end of his nonsensical thoughts, the boy finally decided to be rational and decided not to do it, as he rolled down his sleeve and wore his gloves after putting the sword to his back.
'I used to wear these kinds of clothes because of how comfortable they were to wear. Now. . . They're a necessity,' the boy thought sadly, before wondering what the time was.
'Oh yeah! Today's my second day in school! What should I do for today?' He thought out once again, before putting his thumb and his trigger finger to his chin in an attempt to think of what exactly he wanted to do. He could explore the school, but considering the attention he might get, he felt like staying in the dorm helps.
"Max? You in there?"
The boy jumped off of his chair in shock, before looking at the door. He stood there, not moving, until the door was opened and revealed Fu Hua.
"There you are. What's the matter?" Fu Hua asked.
'Don't surprise me like that next time, please,' he begged. 'Knock first.'
"I'll take note of that," Fu Hua responded, albeit with a teasing tone, causing the boy to pout.
'What do you see me as?' He asked.
"A young boy with a heart of gold, but keeps a secret to retain others' happiness at your own expense," Fu Hua replied, crossing her arms.
'You're not wrong,' the boy replied, smiling, but Fu Hua knew what the smile truly meant, she approached the boy and gave him a quick, and yet, warm hug.
"You could've chosen to become a normal boy, living as a normal high school student. You know that, don't you?" Fu Hua asked.
'I would if I could. Unfortunately, I didn't have a choice in the first place," Max replied, his eyes half closed.
"Didn't have a choice?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
'My mom's superior told her that I'd be enrolling here. If not for that, I'd take up some high school that requires some eloquence, but you know me,' Max responded with a small smile. It has been a while since the two properly bonded, and this time, all the moments he had with his friends and squad mates, he cherished it deeply.
"Otto? He told her to enroll you here?" Fu Hua asked, trying to keep her shock, but the boy was quick to notice the subtleties she let out to contain her surprised expression.
'A cheek twitch and her eyes were slightly larger than before,' he thought. Seeing this, he had a thought, but decided to entertain such a thought later on.
