"He doesn't want to get out of his room."
"Why?"
"I don't know. He never talks to us about it."
"The Bronya senses that he is angry with us about the issue of Karna."
"He de--"
"Kiana, just stop. He didn't deserve it. We started it. It's just natural for him to fight back that way."
"The Bronya agrees with Mei-onee-san."
"Why do yo--"
"How could you not feel guilty about a boy who lost his life for us?"
". . . ."
"I'll be in my room."
"The Bronya will do the same."
The arguments heard outside of the boy's room was heard by him, who sat on his chair while writing furiously into his diary. Initially, it was neat like he had always written it, but over time, it just seem like he was possessed as his handwriting became much more messier and borderline incomprehensible. Stopping himself, he was heavily breathing, and his right arm was hurting intensely from the pain of writing too much. He watched on about his own handwriting and frowned at this, before suddenly a ringtone plays on his table. The sound of his phone. He nearly forgot about it, as he took it into his hands and read through the message.
Sofia: how was school?
Suddenly seeing Sofia's message, he blinked, and his breath hitched immediately, causing him to cough.
'M-mom!'
Almost immediately, he calmed himself down, to not allow his emotions get to him. With a deep breath, he began typing.
Max: we had a mission. Something about going to Korea and getting someone.
He waited for a few seconds, hesitant on sending it or not, but the guilt and anxiety of not answering her overtook him, and so he proceeded to send the message. Fifteen seconds later, another message.
Sofia: ooooh~. How did it go?
Max: well, apparently there was a previous male student who had undertaken the mission but didn't come back for two years.
Sofia: ho? So the male's the target here?
Max: the girl for his mission was.
Sofia: so you're the escort, is that it?
Max: yeah. Unfortunately, the male died protecting us.
Sofia didn't reply. She was wondering how he was taking this in. After a while, thinking that Max might get anxious if she didn't reply (he didn't. He was waiting, but not anxious), she did so.
Sofia: background of the boy?
Max: might take a while, hold on.
After a while of typing, he gave her the answer.
Max: he came from a family that Theresa took him away from, but the girls didn't treat him very well, so he wanted to do whatever it took to get out of the academy. As a result, he took the mission given to him. My guess is that if he accomplished his mission, he'll be able to go back home. . .
Sofia made sure she read it right, before nodding.
Sofia: are THEY treating you badly?
Max: no, they didn't. I have a few friends, but never enemies. Even then, they just never looked at me.
