Despite the claims from doctors that he might wake up in a few weeks, somehow, he woke up a week after he was sent to the hospital.
Sofia saw it all, after all.
She watched the boy's eyelashes flutter, before his eyelids slowly rise. She watched in shock as the boy blinked slowly, as if the light up the ceiling was too bright for him to process. Slowly, the boy sat up, and looked around, only to notice the only living presence was his mother, staring at him. He saw her smile, before the woman hugged the boy. He could hear her say words of happiness and relief. He could feel the warmth of her hug.
And yet. . . Why can't he reciprocate it? He couldn't feel the love Sofia was giving him, and he felt like he was unable to even love her back. To him, the physical contact was numb. Nothing about it felt like love to him.
And Sofia knew this.
Her happiness and relief turned to assurance and sadness.
"Max. . . I know you went through a lot. . ." She began, before she felt the boy slowly raise his arms, grabbed her shoulders, and slowly pushed her away from him. She was utterly confused by his actions, but the moment she looked into his eyes, she soon realised, and her heart cracked.
The boy had a smile on his face, as if showing that he was happy. However, his eyes showed no emotion. No happiness, sadness, anger. . . Even hatred, something that Max rarely exhibited, was non-existent in those eyes.
The boy became a husk of his former self, traumatised by the events in Korea, and now, it seemed like the boy was undergoing something in his mind that he could not express in any way.
It also didn't help that the boy's left side of the face had the pink veins from his left arm, and his left eye pink as well.
Sofia knew something unusual was afoot.
. . . . . .
He watched on as worlds continue to drop, but this time was at a rate he expected. He saw a few worlds that were created, which interested him.
"Hm? Perceval? How interesting," he stated as he watched the branch grew already. Another caught his attention, its branch swerving side to side as if it was not taking the threat of destruction seriously. All he could do was scoff.
"Melisa. . . Keep on going."
The man sat back down and watched over Max's world, where he could see the withering slowly beginning to take root. He knew it would take probably years for the world to finally be put down, but he felt oddly disappointed. There was a boy strong enough to fight against a Herscherr after all, and he didn't want to waste such a golden opportunity. However, he was still stuck in this perpetual trap cursed upon him by the Will of the Herscherr for his disobedience.
'. . . .'
Squinting at the distance, he swore he could have seen a dark figure staring intently at him. Making sure his powers remained with him, he stood up and began to move the platform towards where he last saw the figure.
. . . . .
All they could see is trees, grass, bushes and all that is green and brown. Being sent off to the forests of Philippines didn't do them any favours, as female mosquitoes see them as a delicacy.
As a result, it was up to John and Fu Hua to personally kill each and every one of them, much to the gladness of the others.
Dusting their hands off of the dead mosquitoes that they killed, they all conversed, before coming up with a plan on what they needed to do in order to not get noticed by the Honkai, and what they should do should they be noticed by them.
