"Max, if you don't mind, can we talk more later?"

'Later? I can't. I have to study in the library to prepare myself for the written exam soon. . . . Kanji and all,' Max responded. As much as he loved Japan and its culture, he absolutely detests writing them. He can get behind katakana, and probably give some leeway for hiragana, but oh how he loathes kanji so much.

"Oh."

The two continued to cook for the dish that Mei had in mind, as the latter was trying to think of a way to have the two talk more privately with each other, until an idea struck Max's mind inexplicably. Tapping her shoulder, she turned to look at her giving her a sign language that told her, 'I'm free tonight. We can go get some groceries along the way.'

Seeing what the boy had told her, she blushed slightly, and the boy, although not dense, tilted his head in curiosity of her.

"So. . ." She then whispered, "a date?"

The boy went silent, before his cheeks were slowly turning red.

But what surprised Mei was the fact that the boy nodded.

'Let's consider it like that,' he replied, causing Mei to blush ten times over, and she would've accidentally cut herself if Max hadn't point it out for her.

'Oh, and don't worry about wearing anything special. Something casual would work just fine.'

Nodding at the boy's response, the two continued to cook in a surprisingly normal manner, and soon they served date curry chicken with rice.

Summarily, everyone had their fill and went back to their classrooms to study.

Onto Max.

"Today, we are learning about stigmatas. As you all know, stigmatas come in both natural, and artificial types, with the natural being from the--".

'Apocalypse, Shariac and Kaslana family,' Max thought simultaneously with the teacher's sentence.

"The purpose of stigmata is to boost our strength so that we are able to fight against Honkai more effectively, but remember this. We use artificial stigmatas, so it is more likely for us to be susceptible to it. Even more for our young boy over here. Experiments show that males with high Honkai Resistance tend to be able to absorb more Honkai energy than us females, but they'd become a lot more easily corrupted if they do. Probably because males lack the meaning of holding back."

'That was pretty passive aggressive,' he thought, sweat dropping.

"Now everyone, turn to page. . ."

. . . . . .

The afternoon soon turned to evening, and Max soon head out of his classroom. Waving at a few of his acquaintances, some of which waved back, he then encountered Emilia along the way, in which he stopped himself.

"Oh, hi Max! I saw your fight the other day! You. . . Do remember me, don't you?" She asked. The boy smiled, remembering her watching over his fight with Kiana, before he had a look of suspicion. How did she knew his name?

Emilia, being witty as always, came up with an answer the moment she saw his expression looking different.

"Come on, Max. Everyone knows your name at this point. There's no point in hiding it."

'Hm, she's got a good point,' he thought, before putting up a front in which he smiled brightly.

"Okay, so what do you plan on doing?" She asked.

'Studying the Japanese language? I mean, considering of my circumstances, I feel obligated to learn it,' Max responded after taking out his notebook and pen. He was starting to get used to writing with a pen, and while it felt different, especially with the change of handwriting whenever he wrote with a pen, it was still readable overall.
