Max couldn't sleep properly and so proceeded to make himself something to eat or drink. Switching on the lights of the kitchen, he checked the time (it was 4:56 AM), before he proceeded to make himself a cup of coffee, which luckily existed in packets. Pouring down the powder onto a cup, he then heard the sound of a door opening and then shutting.
"Ha~. Why can't I sleep?"
'Kiana Kaslana. . .'
Pouring hot water into the cup followed by some cold water to at least make it bearably hot, he used the packet as a substitute to stir the coffee, before Kiana came into his view. She didn't seem to notice him as she sat at the chair of the dining table, causing him to pout. In a split second, he let out a whistle, which surprised both of them. Kiana, because she didn't know he was there. Max, because he didn't know he could actually whistle.
"E-eh?! Max?!"
The boy immediately recovered from his embarrassment and waved at her before taking a small sip of the very bitter coffee. As a response to this, he shut his eyes tightly while letting his tongue out. His shoulders risen as another response to the bitter taste, he proceeded to find some sugar in the cupboards while leaving the cup on the. . . Kitchen top? This earned him a giggle from Kiana, which eased the situation quite a bit.
'This is good,' he thought, smiling softly as he soon found a jar filled with sugar cubes. Putting several into the cup and returning the jar to where he found it, he took another sip, and smiled softly at how less bitter it was.
"So. . . Why are you awake?" Kiana asked, as Max walked towards her. He made a gesture of a ringing bell, which Kiana understood miraculously.
"So you heard it too," she told him, and he nodded as he sat across her on the dining table, sipping his slightly bitter coffee. The two were in silent, trying to figure out a proper subject to talk about while the time they had currently trying to connect with each other seem very limited.
And a topic indeed came into Max's mind.
'What did she think of me?'
Looking at Kiana, he proceeded to point towards her, then to her brain, then to him. Once again, she miraculously understood it, and didn't misinterpret it in any way possible.
"Well. . . You're a good boy."
And that's it. That was all that she could say with her simple mindedness. This earned her a deadpan expression from Max, simply because of Kiana's simple conclusion.
"W-what? You want to know more?" She asked. When she saw him nod, she began to sweat slightly.
"Okay. . . Uh, you won't feel hurt?" She asked. The boy nodded at this, confusing Kiana.
"Wait, will you feel hurt or you won't?"
Seeing the boy raise two fingers, she understood that it was the second option, and took a deep breath.
'Let's let it all out.'
"You are the second worst male I've ever known. Your silent demeanor intimidates me, and you being a boy makes me annoyed that you're stronger than I am. Even Mei-senpai and Bronya defended you, which is even more annoying. I wish you never got to this academy so that everyone would be in peace! Not to mention, you've never even tried to befriend us any more than just being acquaintances, which pisses me off even more!"
The boy was silent (as always), taking in her words into consideration.
"But, you do have your positive traits as well." She sounded very adamant when she got there, as if she didn't want him to know about his good traits and never wanting to acknowledge them.
