Demons were approaching us from all corners. I knew something like this would happen eventually, but I really hoped it would be later. I didn't have enough time to practice my new magic! And if I'm half light and half dark fae, I need to learn to harness both sides of me! I started to panic inside my mind, but Izzalee disturbed my silent panic attack.
"Calm down. If you let me take over your body, I'll be able to make them leave."
"How can I trust you won't take over for good?"
"You will just have to trust me."
"Great."
I waited until I saw the first demon come from the forest before giving full control to Izzalee, who slid up to my mind and pushed me back. I floated in the dark depths of my own mind as Izzalee took control of my powers. Even though I wasn't at the surface, I could feel confusion coming from my friends. They didn't know I let my demon take over, and Izzalee was being destructive as hell. I continued to float deeper into my mind, but I could feel the power that came off of my fingertips as Izzalee threw the flames at the demons.
"Hurry up, I want my body back." I scolded Izzalee, who scowled at me before throwing one more flame at the demons. She pushed me out of my dark spot in my mind and I stumbled, almost tripping over the corpses of the demons. I looked down to where I almost tripped and gasped. Burns marked red skin and blood fell down open wounds. More roars filled the air and I pushed Izzalee back. I was gonna do this one myself.
"Titania, wait!" Cornelius shouted when I took off in a sprint towards the trees. My friends shouted from behind me, but ignored them. I had to get rid of these demons and I had to do it now. When I reached the edge of the forest, my eyes bulged. I was met with shadows and death, a set of glowing red eyes and a muscular beast. The beast's beady red eyes glared at me as I slowly approached it. The scent around me was filled of sulfur and acids, but it wasn't bothering me. It's probably only because I'm combined with Izzalee's powers now. Smoke billows from the beast's oversized fat red nose and it's eyes stare me down with deadly intensity. Six jagged horns adorn the top of the creature's big head, and glowing black wings erupted from its back. The span of the wings was bigger than all of the trees surrounding me. Fire erupted from the wings and more smoke escaped the beast's nostrils. Chains dangle from the beast's lanky arms and when it growled, the entire ground shook. My body began to tremble in fear. This had to be the King Demon.
The King Demon was a species of demons that were condemned to hell eons ago. The way it stared at me chilled me to my very core and my heart began to pound at an alarming speed. The King Demons haven't been spotted for eons since their confinement, and the way it escaped was unknown to me. The place they were confined to was supposed to be the most secure prison of hell. King demons were known to eat their victims alive. Thinking of that, I looked to see huge fangs appearing as it opened its mouth. Knowing what was going to happen next, I covered my ears. The demon roared and attempted to grab me, but I flew away.
I landed on top of a dead tree, but to my disappointment, the demon followed. The heat the demon was producing was sickening and I almost threw up. The amount of fire erupting from the king demon was now increasing, and soon, the rest of the dead tree collapsed to the ground with the weight of the fire. I managed to fly away and not collapse with the tree, but the demon followed me. Izzalee stayed quiet as I tried to outfly the demon. I looked down to the area I left my friends and saw them looking up at me with fear. The demon was hot on my tail and I flew faster. Deciding to try something new, I reached out to my center to try and find my dark fae magic. I dug in, but found nothing other than light. Frustrated, I decided to experiment with mine and Izzalee's combined powers. I decided to mix my light magic and her death magic to make a large spell that could knock the demon off its game.
"Fire of hell." I screamed, stoping in midair and throwing my hands out in front of me. Purple flames licked my fingers and I threw all of my energy at the demon who was advancing on me. The fire exploded from my fingertips and flew at a speed of at least eighty miles per hour. The beast's red eyes looked at the fire and it backed away. But my fire was faster and swallowed it whole. The king demon screamed and disintegrated as my flames engulfed it. Sighing, I let my hands drop to my side.
Exhaustion was slowly registering as I reached my maximum energy point. The amount of energy that spell cost was almost all of mine and it really weighed down on me. Frowning, I attempted to land gently on the ground but only managed a free fall. I decided to make a joke out of it to lighten the mood.
"Cannonball!" I shouted just as my stomach collided with the ground. My friends looking down at me was the sight I was met with when I turned around and laid my back on the ground instead of my stomach. The ground was cold..... so cold. My head really was starting to hurt and all I wanted was to go to sleep. My arms went limp at my side and the pain of my wound was finally registering again. I screamed as I felt my body becoming colder than I've ever felt. I didn't know if this was it, but I decided just in case, I'd admit my feelings. I didn't want to become a ghost with unfinished business.
"I really like you Cornelius." I wheezed out, feeling my body's temperature drop at an alarming speed. Cornelius eyed me before he said something. His eyes bulged as he realized what I thought could be happening.
"No! You are not dying!" He shouted, pulling me off the ground. I groaned, not wanting to move. He gently shook me as my eyes began to close.
"Keep your eyes open, Titania! You are NOT dying!" Cornelius screamed. I could faintly hear Ofelia and Kayden talking, but Cornelius's desperate shouting was all I could hear clearly.
"But it feels like it." I wheezed out.
"I refuse to let you die! I feel the same way! Don't do this to me!" He shouted. I sighed and finally took one last deep breath before shutting my eyes.
