"Sorcha, I can't do it!" I screamed at the goddess. Her eyes flashed towards me and she stared me down. I trembled under her intense gaze. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up and chills wracked my spine. Sorcha was a goddess, and I don't know where this impulsiveness came from. I was screaming at a goddess! Never did I ever think that'd happen. And I guess I just assumed that because Sorcha was my ancestor, she wouldn't hurt me. But, then again, she was hurting me enough by this training. It's been hours and I've gotten nowhere. Every time I try to cast the spell she tells me to, I only manage a tiny spark of flame. Sorcha was clearly getting exasperated with me.
"The only way to know that is if you keep trying." I sighed, feeling exhausted. Sorcha looked like she was pondering before she changed forms. My eyes bulged as I saw who she changed to. Vivian.....
"Try now." Sorcha said. I sighed and called on my energy.
"Volcanic Madness!" I screamed, feeling my body light up with fire. Purple flames engulfed me and I screamed. I felt my energy level grow and grow and the flames spread higher and higher until they reached the same amount as Sorcha's flames. My eyes even had fire in the irises. Anger at the demon who possessed my sister consumed me until I felt all my powers and heritage mix together. Light and dark faery magic mixed and spells I didn't even know entered my mind.
"Power of the universe!" One of my hands glowed a light lavender and the other glowed a beautiful shade of blue that my powers never had. Lightening began to fall down from the sky in pairs and heat began to increase. Heat engulfed me as I gritted my teeth. The power radiating off of me was intense, but I didn't stop. Thunder rumbled In the distance and rain began to pour on our heads. The rain didn't feel like rain though. It felt more like a burning hot acid tearing off skin, but it didn't hurt me or Sorcha. Sorcha's pride filled smile filled her face when she transformed back to her original form. She lifted her hand in the air and muttered a spell and my spell dissolved.
"Good job! You did it!" She clapped, looking at me proudly. I shrugged, but felt proud of myself too. Never did I ever think I'd be able to cast a spell like that. Acid rain with thunder and lightening and my body covered in flames? I didn't even know that was a thing, but I guess being a descendant of a goddess has its perks.
"What now?" I asked the goddess standing in front of me. She smiled widely.
"I think we may just have to summon Marina now." I gasped, now understanding what she meant about the faery she wanted to summon who was just like me. Sorcha smiled and disappeared, once again leaving me to my own thoughts. I looked up to see that the sky was still a bit dark and held some eerie glint to it, but otherwise, it's like my spell never happened. The weight of the spell I just cast weighed down on me and gasped. Sorcha appeared with a beautiful faery at her side. The faery, who I assumed to be Marina, was gorgeous. Her blue and purple wings looked almost identical to mine and her golden wavy hair fell down her lower back. Her pale skin and glowing blue eyes stared right at me. She smiled widely.
"So this is the new savior I've been hearing about." Marina said, looking at Sorcha. Sorcha nodded and smiled.
"Yes, this is Titania. You two are actually related, but I called you here because I thought she needed to learn more about being a dark and light faery mixed together and some of your world saving spells." Marina smiled at Sorcha and nodded.
"That would be wise." Marina said, looking back to me.
"You may start with your lesson now, Marina." Sorcha said, going to sit against a nearby tree. Marina nodded and looked at me pointedly.
"You do understand great sacrifices are involved in this, correct?" Marina asked and I nodded. I understood I'd probably have to die in order to save everyone, and I've accepted that now. A sense of peace washed over me as I recalled the vision Mirella and I shared. I understood now why I would have to die. If a demon was possessing Vivian, i'd have to make it go into my body and stab myself. That way, the demon dies along with me. I wouldn't have to kill Vivian and maybe she could live a good life without the demon inside of her anymore. My heart warmed as I thought about saving my sister. Even after all that the demon's done to me while possessing Vivian, I did not want to hurt her. Regardless of her actions, Vivian was my sister and if she didn't need to be killed, I would not do it. I would kill the demon once and for all. Marina looked at me expectantly.
"I understand that I'll probably have to die in order to save everyone." I told her honestly. She looked at me sadly but nodded sternly.
"That is very true. And it will hurt, but you will save the greater amount of fae by sacrificing yourself. Shall we begin?" I nodded and Marina started to whisper words. A gigantic icy sun shot out of her hands and molded into a sword. My eyes bulged as she handed me the sword to touch it and observe it. The sword felt exactly like an icicle, but it didn't melt, despite the heat. A sharp point stabbed my finger at the top and I winced, but no blood came out. I guess blood wasn't a thing in the in between world.
"Ready to try it yourself?" Marina asked me and I looked at her with my jaw dropped to ground.
"How? I don't even know what spell you cast!"
Marina sighed and said the words louder.
"Ice and metal, point and pain, form this ice sword in my hands!" An even larger ice sword formed and she handed it to me. Thankfully, I didn't feel the point on this one. It felt like an actual sword made out of an icicle. I sighed and handed the swords back to her. Calling upon my energy, I told my light and dark magic to mix together and felt power radiating in my center. Wind started to pull my hair in my face but I ignored it.
"Ice and metal, point and pain, form this sword sword in my hands!" I screamed the words louder than necessary and a gigantic sword appeared in my hands. The sword was as large as my arms and almost fell out of my hands. I grasped it tighter and held it up. Marina was looking at me with the highest amount of surprise i'd ever seen on someone's face.
"That's- That shouldn't be possible!" She said, confusion washing over her. I looked at her in confusion.
"What shouldn't be possible?" I asked her, and she looked straight in my eyes. I squirmed under her gaze.
"That amount of power! You're even stronger than me, the most powerful faery in existence, Titania. We need to train you and fast." The frantic edge to her voice put me on edge as well and I started to whimper.
"Stop whimpering, Titania. Being powerful only means you're the world's savior. I know how it feels to feel the amount of those words, but we really need you to focus." Marina said, gently patting my head. Staring right up at her, I nodded and pulled on a brave attitude.
"Let's do this." I said. Marina smiled at me and we started up again.
