The swirling sensation of flying engulfed my entire body as we floated through the portal. The portal spit us out on a rocky landscape, and I took in my surroundings. Tall, flaming mountain. Rocks tumbling down pathways. Roars sounded from high up in the treetops, and I shivered. They were vicious sounds. I didn't like it, but I was going to save Cornelius from an unwanted fate. Violet must have snuck some kind of spell in his food dish when we were eating.

"What now?" Kayden asked.

"We climb." I stated the obvious.

Kayden looked at me as if I were the dumbest faery, but I ignored it.

"We climb the mountain. I need to get a very particular plant. Black nightshade. The trek will be dangerous, as you probably can see."

Kayden looked thoughtful as he nodded.

"Let's go, then!" He started to run up the pathway in front of us, only to slide right back down.

"Ooof." He grunted.

"We need to find a flatter pathway, Kayden. You should know that." I scolded him.

"Whatever." He muttered.

I looked around the mountain and saw a flatter path, but rocks were tumbling down it constantly.

"That is the only pathway we'll be able to climb, but we need to be careful of the rocks." I told Kayden.

"Ok, so rocks are tumbling down a path. How hard can this be?" He grumbled.

"You didn't need to come." I reminded him.

"Yes, I did. I am not letting my little sister go on a dangerous journey without me." He said, glaring at me.

"Then stop complaining."

"I'm not complaining."

"Yes, you are."

"Am not!"

I rolled my eyes.

"You're being childish, Kayden. We have an actual mission to complete, so let's get to it." I told him.

"And how do you expect to avoid the tumbling rocks? Those are boulders, Titania!"

"We have to be quick to dodge them." I shrugged.

"No one can dodge those kinds of speedy rocks, Titania! For the love of everything good, find a safer path!"

I whirled around to face him.

"Wisteria warned me it would be dangerous, and I accepted it. You didn't have to, but you did. I am willing to risk it."

Kayden sighed.

"Let's go." I said, still snapping.

We walked towards the path we would be climbing, and I had to dodge quite a few rocks even down here. The rocks were falling down at the speed of at least fifty miles an hour. I didn't like the idea of being crushed by rocks, but I was willing to risk it.

When we reached the beginning of the pathway, we stepped up. It was exasperating. Gravity pushed against us as we climbed up the mountain.

"My legs hurt." Kayden complained.

"So do mine, but you don't see me complaining!" I snapped at him.

For the next two hours, we climbed on and off, taking breaks to sit and drink water. Climbing this mountain required a lot of energy, and it's energy I barely had. The idea of sitting down and laying in a bed sounded like heaven.

At this point, the sky was dark and the stars were out.

"Let's go camp out there for the night." Kayden pointed towards a tree nearby.

Royal Fae also had the ability to create houses out of trees. We could simply whisper a word relating to the tree and think in our minds what we want it to look like.

"Treehouse!" Kayden pointed his fingers towards the tree and a large hole appeared.

We walked over to the tree and looked in the hole, satisfied by the amount of room inside. The inside was just wood, but it had enough space for us to conjure two small beds.

"Bed!" I shouted at the same time Kayden did.

Two beds appeared on opposite sides of the room. Satisfied, I walked over to mine and sat down.

"Oh, yes!" I sighed happily. Similar sounds were coming from Kayden's side of the room.

But that's when we heard it.

Stomping sounds were approaching our tree, and we looked outside a small window we created to see a beast staring right at us.

The beast roared, and more stomping sounds approached us from all sides.

"Shit." Kayden whispered.
