That evening
"Titania?! Are you ready?!" Ofelia called from outside my door. I groaned, attempting to put my sandals on."Yeah! Hang on!" The sandals slipped on after a strained attempt at pulling them up. My wrists ached from the pressure I put on trying to pull the sandals on. After a minute of deep breaths, I groaned and opened my door to reveal Ofelia. Ofelia's blonde hair was tied up in a high bun and she had her usual cloak on with some white sandals.
"Yes, I'm ready now." I told her. She nodded and grabbed my wrist, pulling me down the halls again.
"I can walk, you know." I muttered, feeling annoyance creep into my senses.
"I know, but it comforts me. Think about it, Titania! I almost lost you just four days ago! I'd like to feel that you're actually alive!" She said. I sighed as she said that. Way to play the guilt card.
"I'm sorry, it's just not really comfortable for me." I said, being honest with her. Sometimes, Ofelia's grip can get too tight and she doesn't even know it.
"Ooh! Sorry!" She said, loosening her hold on me.
Quite an interesting choice of a best friend. Izzalee said, talking in my mind again.
She is, but she's my best friend regardless.
Whatever you say.
I rolled my eyes at Izzalee. She most likely doesn't understand the concept of best friends.
I do too!
I blocked out Izzalee as I continued being dragged along by Ofelia. The halls weren't so crowded and I was grateful for that. I'd rather not be seen being dragged through halls by my best friend.
We abruptly stopped in front of the doors. Kayden and Cornelius were outside, talking to a few girls. Falynn was one of them and she sent Ofelia a nasty glare. Ofelia shriveled back and dropped her head. No one gets to make my best friend upset like that!
I pushed Ofelia's hand off of my wrist and slammed the doors open. Falynn and the other girls looked at me and glared, but I headed straight for Falynn. When I reached her, I grabbed her wrist in a painfully tight manner and dragged her away from the group. I stopped right by a bench next to a flower bed. The flower bed consisted of liatris, astilbe, lantana, snapdragons and a few others I couldn't decipher. I pushed Falynn down on the bench and glared at her.
"Why the hell did you just glare at Ofelia like that?!"
"Like what?" Falynn asked, checking her nails as if she didn't give a damn about this conversation.
"You shot her a nasty glare!" I growled menacingly. She shrugged.
"So?"
"So?! So you really upset her! What the hell is wrong with you?!"
"Nothing, what's wrong with you?"
"Don't underestimate me, Falynn. I'm still royalty."
"Yeah, a royal pain in the ass!"
"Oh, now you've done it!" I sneered, glaring at her. Falynn glared right back at me.
"Done what? State the truth? Hell yeah I did!"
"Falynn, stop evading the question! Why did you glare at Ofelia?!" I was pretty much screaming now.
"Because she's trying to take what belongs to ME!" Falynn screamed back.
"And What belongs to you that she's trying to take?"
"Kayden!"
I burst out laughing. Kayden didn't belong to Falynn and never would!
"Like hell! Kayden is my brother and he isn't property Falynn! Get lost!"
Falynn crossed her arms and stared at me angrily.
"No." She simply said, sneering at me.
"No? Are you trying to go to hell right now?!"
Falynn laughed, but it was empty. This isn't the Falynn I've met before, this was a completely different Falynn. I didn't like her.
"Oh, I'll be going wherever Kayden goes. Mark my words, Titania. He's mine!" With that final comment, Falynn stomped away. I stood by the bench for a few seconds when I felt arms encircle me from behind. I turned my head to see Cornelius and sighed. Ever since my 'death', Cornelius and I have been quite close, although he is a little too protective of me. When I tripped two days earlier, he called Cerise to check on me as if I just split something. I wasn't even bleeding!
"Not who we though she was, huh?" Cornelius asked, letting go of me. I immediately missed his warmth.
"No, not at all." I said, still in shock from Falynn's outburst.
Kayden and Ofelia's voices could be heard approaching us and when Ofelia threw herself at me, I hugged her back just as hard. Anytime someone glared or did anything to show they didn't like Ofelia, she'd get flashbacks from a really rough time in her life. When Ofelia was younger, she was bullied really bad. Physical, verbal, emotional, you name it, she probably endured it all.
"Are you ok?" I asked Ofelia, slightly pulling away from the hug. She nodded, but tears were slowly falling down her cheeks. I hated Falynn for this. She just made my best friend cry!
"We should get going." Kayden said after ten minutes, looking at Ofelia crying on my shoulder. I remembered what Ofelia had said about her and Kayden and immediately understood his concern. I knew something strange was going on between those two ever since I saw Ofelia hanging out in my room here. Kayden acted all weird and left, and Ofelia looked at him longingly.
"Do you have a map?" Cornelius asked me. I nodded and pulled out a map I drew after I met with them earlier. When I pulled the crumbled paper out, I straightened it and angled the map so everyone could see. Next to the flaring volcano is where the flaring mountain range resided, but the issue was, we didn't know which mountain we needed to go to. There was Mount Madison, named in honor of Queen Madison of the dark fae, there was Mount Cole, named in honor of Madison's husband, there was Mount Xylo, Mount Sanna, and Mount Sadatoic. We didn't know which one precisely, but I had a feeling it'd be Mount Madison. I remember learning about the sword of Mirrors. The sword was created by Queen Madison centuries ago and after her death, it was hidden far in the mountain range.
Flashback
"Ok class! Today, we'll be learning of the sword of mirrors!" Mrs. Druid shouted enthusiastically. We all knew how much she adored queen Madison's craft making skills. Her powers were based off metals.
"Can anyone tell me what the sword of mirrors is?" She asked us, looking at each of us for more than five seconds.
"Ooh! Ooh! I know!" Carol, a classmate of mine shouted. Mrs. Druid nodded.
"The sword of mirrors is a sword created by Queen Madison of the dark fae. When she created it, there was no way to kill Valene, but certain metals weakened her for a certain amount of time. Queen Madison combined the metals, Diamond, Ruby, Emerald, Opal, and Sapphire to create a deadly sword, and the sword looks like a mirror with all the swirling colors and jewels. The handle is filled of jewels and iridescent colors. It wasn't able to be used as Queen Madison died before she could wield it, so Valene still roams about our planet."
Everyone, including Mrs. Druid clapped at Carol's knowledge.
"Very good Carol!" Mrs. Druid praised her.
End of flashback
"We should try Mount Madison first." I told everyone, pointing at the map. They all looked at me quizzically so I explained.
"The sword of mirrors was created by Queen Madison of the dark fae centuries ago. She was a faery with the ability to melt metals together to form great weapons, but at the time, there was no way to kill Valene, but there was ways to weaken her. Valene was very sensitive to diamond, ruby, emerald, sapphire, and opals, so when Madison created the sword, she merged those metals together to create a colorful mirror sword." Everyone nodded, understanding Mount Madison is our best bet.
"Lead the way, Titania!" Kayden shouted, pointing towards the setting sun. I nodded and we started our trek.
